Michael Bush takes over as #1 RB in Oakland?

rotoworld,

Michael Bush was the first-team tailback, ahead of Darren McFadden, to open Raiders OTAs Wednesday.

Bush got the first carry, with McFadden behind him in team drills. The battle is ongoing, but Oakland appears to have acknowledged that Bush is the superior early-down option. McFadden's draft status will have no bearing on the competition. Ideally, Bush will lead the team in carries while McFadden is used mostly in open space and contributes more in the receiving game. Okay what the hell is going on here. I need some local Raider fan to chime in here. Have they taken Davis and locked him away or some such???

I mean they make good draft decisions, they dump the Qb Davis loved, they got a servicable replacement at decent cost, they now seem to be fixing the running game issues.

I am starting to get scared here. Isn't this one of the first signs of the appocolypse??? Kind of like successful Bengals? :hide: :biglaugh:

Its only OTA's, if this was towards the end of training camp news might be somthing to bank on.

Lets see how it goes during pre-season games as to who will be the #1 RB in Oakland.

IMO I like what i have seen from M.Bush during last season over what D.McFadden has done his entirely short NFL career, D-Mac has been sort of a bust dont you think. :hmmm:

I agree 007. This move should have been made last season. I'm hoping they keep Bush as their #1 now though. Better late than never someone once said.

I was reading in the off-season that McFadden could end up being used as a slot receiver almost as much as at RB.

They both deserve to be on the field. This is a good way to do it.

That was my thinking also. They have a nice TE, stick McFaddy in the slot and send them both out. That will use up some LB and safety action fro the opposing team and Bush can pick up some yardage in chunks. If the D stays in the box then throwing to either of them burns the D.

This might just work now that a real QB is wearing Silver & Black, in my previous post i did say that D-Mac is a boarder line bust but i like this idea, i'm looking forward to see what McFadden might finally bring to the table. :xpopcorn:

I'd like to see McFadden with the ball in the open field. He once was electric but has found the open field hard to find since landing in Oakland.

I've been a Michael Bush fan for awhile. He'll put up good numbers this year. Great 7th or 8th Rd. grab. I haven't seen any ADP info I'd be interested to see where he's getting picked now. I got a feeling his stock will be rising as we get closer to preseason.

I've had him on my bench a couple of years in non-keeper leagues knowing in my heart he could be a decent #2 or good backup but thus far it has failed to pan out.

rotoworld,

The Oakland Tribune confirms that there is "no chance" Michael Bush will be traded this offseason.

The time period during which trades are likely has passed, and Bush appears to be on track to be the Raiders' Opening Day starting tailback. According to the Oakland Tribune's Jerry McDonald, owner Al Davis "would insist on first-round compensation" for Bush. Bush isn't going anywhere.

rotoworld,
Raiders coach Tom Cable has backtracked on his earlier stance that he wants a lead back to emerge between Michael Bush and Darren McFadden.

"I actually think they're both (No. 1s) and I think it's a great deal we got going here," said Cable. The two backs have complementary strengths and weaknesses, so a tandem effort seemed like the best play all along. Expect Bush to handle the majority of the between-the-tackles work in a near 50-50 split in touches. "My motto is, 'You call it, I'll haul it,'" said Bush.

Just make Bush the lead back and McFadden the 3rd down/ change of pace back. Let them have a 65-35 or 70-30 split. McFadden can't stay on the field if he has 50% of the carries. Bush is talented. And with a competant QB finally, not saying Campbell is awesome or anything just not a fat turd of a player like Russel, they offense should open up more. That should give them more room to run.
