McCray fined $20,000
The News
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints defensive end Bobby McCray has been fined $20,000 for his two hits on Brett Favre in last Sunday's NFC Championship game.
Our View
McCray nailed Favre after a handoff and receiver an unnecessary roughness penalty. His second hit was a blow to the veteran QB's knee, but he was not penalized on the play.

If the NFL doesn't put a stop to these kind of tactics just imagine what the Superbowl will be like. Couple late hits like that on Manning, Then the Colts send out a "Special Teamer" to put Brees out of the game (who cares if it is late/cheap/etc ... Lets just take the 15yder now). Now we are stuck watching the biggest game of the year with backup QBs in for both teams.

I'm thinking it might already be too late to close the barn door on this issue

Maybe teams need to quit sinking so much money into one position and go back to building depth.

Remember back to the day when quarterbacks weren't overprotected by the league, and teams actually put some stock into the #2 guy?

Not condoning what happened but I am downright sick of the increased rules that make it so tough for defenses to do a damn thing out of the field. The more the NFL trends toward nothing but a show of offense, the more I begin to dislike what I am watching.
