McAsh sparks Texas to victory

Texas had gained 80 yards of offense late in the first half against BYU. The Cougars held a 13-0 lead. Garrett Gilbert was his usual self, 2-8 for 8 yards with 2 INTs.

Then something happened over a year in the making..............................

Garrett Gilbert got benched and the Longhorns rolled.

Using a combo of Case McCoy and David Ash, Texas rolled up 201 yards of second half offense and rode a punishing ground game to a 17-16 win against BYU Saturday night. This is the kind of game the Longhorns would have lost 35-3 last year, but this isnt the self absorbed boring offensed 2010 team.

Freshman RB Malcolm Brown averaged 4.8 yards on his 14 carries, and the team had an entirely different attitude once McAsh took over.

I had this one penciled in as a game wed lose this year, and the fact we found a way to win and put Gilbert's sorry ass on the bench gives me hope headed into the deathtrap (for us) that is UCLA.
