I almost hate to post this because Jones has been such a let down but here's the report from rotoworld.

Matt Jones was the "early surprise" of Tuesday's first practice session of the season, according to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson.

Jones beat cornerback Leon Hall twice, a feat many starting receivers had trouble accomplishing last season. Carson Palmer noted that Jones is "always a mismatch" due to his size and speed while another offensive player stated simply, "Matt Jones is a beast." Jones has always had the talent. If the light is flipped on, he can't be ruled out of the third receiver competition.

Palmer was very complimentary of Bryant and Matt Jones. Stated he feels they can do many of the same things that Housh and Henry did in 05 for this offense.

:wow: if Matt Jones can put his size, speed, Hands and head together.....he would be scary for real. I wonder if this is another Cedric Benson type move for Cincy?

I;ve always liked the guy, hope he can put all his off field issues behind him and concentrate on playing football. He was the only one who could catch a ball when playing for the Jags and he definitly has the talent to succeed in the game.

Matt Jones could be another real gem of a find for the Bengals. This could be a good move for Jones as in this O he won't have the pressure of being the #1.

rotoworld,

Matt Jones insists he's now in the best shape of his career at this point in the offseason.

We'd caution that many receivers look great in non-contract drills, but Jones is already exciting his coaches and teammates. "I've been impressed with him," Marvin Lewis said. "It's going to be fun to watch. He's feeling good about himself. He's got the quarterbacks feeling good about his abilities."
