Matt Forte - RB - Fantasy Value 2012

A two-thousand yard year was on it's way through 12 games last season when Forte sprained his right MCL.
Since Cutler was already gone with the season, Forte was shelved for the remainder as well.
He was averaging 83 yards rushing at just under 5 yards a clip and 41 yards receiving at 9 and a half per gallop.

Come to think of it, this could be Forte's year. He's well rested and just getting better.
The problem with Forte from the fantasy perspective is obvious. TD's.
But that doesn't mean a big TD season isn't on the horizon.

If you're thinking about getting Megatron, then I'm thinking Forte is a great gamble for RB1
(that you can get in the second round) in many leagues.

Yeah, this season could very well be "The Tour de Forte".

2nd round definitely - i would only caution that they lean SO heavily on Forte that another injury is not unlikely

Which is the risk you take with all of the RB's worth a first round pick.
A tweak here and there is almost certain however I think it's a good bet a serious injury won't happen in 2012.
He's a great candidate to outperform those drafted above him this year.

I would also encourage you to explore why you think Forte has now become an injury worry.
He started all 16 games his first three seasons.
He started the first 12 of 2011 before injuring himself prior to contact.
The Bears were done once Cutler went down.
Forte could have played if they wanted to risk getting him hurt in a season that was already over.

Matt felt a twinge-like tickle in his knee and that was all the team needed to shut him down.

I'm looking to make a move for Forte in a deal that looks like this:

I get:
Matt Forte
Kyle Orton
2nd round pick

I send:
Victor Cruz
Matt Schaub
Roy Helu

I am a Romo owner with Schaub as my backup. I've also got Skelton and Stanzi waiting in the wings. So giving up Schaub I'm rolling with Romo exclusively and in the event of an injury I have a serviceable backup in Orton. Guess I feel pretty good about that. Thoughts? Stupid move?

I need a legit RB1, and I need to make a move. I own Nicks, so Cruz is a piece I can move. Hard to play them both. Helu, well he could be in line for the starting role this season but I hated owning him last year. It truly sucks not knowing who is starting there from week to week.

I like the move.
I think because of the current situation of Forte coming off an injury and Cruz riding that huge wave, you could ask for a bit more.

Talk up Helu and the rebounding Redskins with RG3 and all that.

tell me about your wr's.

Have Nicks, Marshall, a. Brown, S. Holmes and Gronk.

Good gawd man.
how many wr's can you start?
deal your wr's as you see fit, because clearly you will find more as obviously you know what you are doing.

dang.

tell me/us who you are eyeballing at wr in your leagues rookie draft.

To me Floyd is the solid choice all the way around.
the two jr's (the Cowboy and the Cock) could be just as good, but what makes them good could just as easily turn them into huge busts with even larger entourages.

We start 2 wr with 2 flex spots which can be wr or RB. My RB's are Greene, Helu, Blount and Hillis.....waaaa waaaa waaaa

Hence my desire to obtain Forte.

WR's in rookie drafts are tough cause so many bust! K. Wright is a target for sure but really you gotta wait for draft if possible to see where they go.

Ok, you toss us K. Wright
my first thought is, "who?"
his best game was in a loss.
he's too small

Again, gruntbusters,

who are you looking at at wr in the draft?
or is that something you'd rather not share for obvious reasons?

Well the obvious 1st round picks this year are for sure Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd. But some guys that I'm keeping an eye on that could be great include:
Alshon Jeffery, WR SC - 6'3" 216lbs
Nick Toon, WR WIS - 6'2" 215lbs
Brian Quick, WR APP ST (small school guy) - 6'4" 220lbs

They all have great size, decent speed and show good tangibles to be successful. Again, it's still way to early to even contemplate who to draft, but this years draft seems pretty deep at WR.

My first pick is 2.05(pick 15) in this years rookie draft. I'd love for Tannehill to fall to me, but I'm not sure there are enough RB's and WR's to make that happen. I see our first 4 picks of our draft going like T Richardson, A. Luck, J Blackmon, RGIII. The RGIII pick could end up being 3rd in which case it's possible the 2nd RB (Lamar Miller) comes off instead of Blackmon.

Being a Hawkeye homer...I'd love to see a guy like McNutt go to a great situation. He's got what it takes to be a possession receiver but I'd really like to see him sneek into the low WR1 status on a great team. My last Hawkeye that I drafted didn't go so well :( can you guess who that was?

This thread still has value. Just not the in the way it was originally intended.
