Matt Cassel recently underwent an appendectomy, explaining his absence from Chiefs practice Wednesday.

The Chiefs confirmed the procedure, but according to Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com, the team "expects him to return to work this week." We'll see. Appendectomies are emergency surgeries to remove the appendix, and have been known to sideline players for multiple games. Brodie Croyle took all of the first-team reps on Wednesday. He's got enough ability to prevent Dwayne Bowe from being a red-flag fantasy play if Cassel is forced to sit out at San Diego.

Seems like that would be dangerous playing that quickly.....................:hmmm:

The Kansas City Star reports that Matt Cassel is likely to miss "at least" two weeks after Wednesday's appendectomy.

The report runs a bit contrary to Adam Schefter's, which said the Chiefs were still hopeful Cassel could tough it out and start Week 14. The K.C. Star points out that Ben Roethlisberger underwent a similar, "laparoscopic" procedure in 2006 that cost him Pittsburgh's season opener. Beat writer Adam Teicher suggests that the Chiefs' claim that Cassel would "return to work this week" means attending meetings and watching tape, not starting.

I don't think that will hurt bowe at all. He will still be the go to man and w/o cassel they might be playing from behind
 
I think you will see a WHOLE lot of Jones and charles...and not much Bowe at all
