I picked up a copy of NFL.com's 2009 Fantasy Football Preview publication a couple weeks ago, and let me first say it is very well put together with plenty of high-quality color photos and useful articles. It was also one of the first releases for the upcoming FF season. However, I found fault with more than a handful of the ratings and statistical projections. In this one week mini-series, I'll take them to task with my interpretation of 2 players at each position that I believe to be ranked too high or too low, along with my own personal projections. Don't be shy with the feedback, gang!

QB's:
Matt Ryan, ATL - #8 - Projected 3,950 Yds/25 TD's (too high)
-I'm sorry Falcon fans, but I cannot fathom a 9 touchdown increase from a sophomore QB who won't be sneaking up on anyone this season. I know Tony Gonzalez is on board and Roddy White is an emerging star at wideout, but this coaching staff won't be suddenly forgetting the 17 times they watched the human bowling ball, Michael Turner, cross the goal line last year. Throw in a schedule that features 2 divisions with solid defenses (AFC East, NFC East) plus the Panthers twice, and I'm not sold.. yet.
The Dawg says: #12 - 3650 Yds/20 TD's. Still a fantasy starter, but not quite top-10.
Donovan McNabb, PHI - #10 - Projected 3,825 Yds/21 TD's (too low)
-He posted nearly 3,916 yards and 23 scores in 2008, while sitting out the Ravens contest (coach's decision). During this offseason he delivered ultimatum's about improving the team, and boy did management oblige. He got upgrades at both Tackle spots (Jason Peters, Stacy Andrews), along with a great draft that added WR Jeremy Maclin, Brian Westbrook-clone LeSean McCoy at RB, and a talented young receiving TE in Cornelius Ingram. Add that to 2nd-year sensation DeSean Jackson, Kevin Curtis, and popular sleeper TE Brent Celek, and suddenly McNabb appears to have the deepest supporting cast of his career. It's a typically rugged Eagles schedule, but he'll draw the pass defenses of the 49ers and Broncos during the fantasy playoffs. Yummy.
The Dawg says: #6 - 4,075 Yds/26 TD's. He could realistically approach 30 combined TD's and is being consistently underdrafted this year. I won't be doing so.
