That was the rumor on talk radio out of New Orleans this morning. Have y'all heard any thing on it today? The last I heard Major was being considered for the OC job at Texas, now there seems to be a push of sorts to bring the Baton Rouge boy back home. If so is it a good hire? Sarge, you are much more in tune with his efforts than I do you have an opinion?

Football: Kragthorpe to interview for LSU O.C. job Tuesday
By Staff Reports

Updated: Monday, January 17, 2011

Steve Kragthorpe, the former head coach of Louisville and Tulsa, will interview for LSU's offensive coordinator position Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Kragthorpe had a brief stint in the NFL as the Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach before spending four seasons at Tulsa and three years at Louisville. Kragthorpe, 45, went a combined 44-43 at the two schools. He was fired by Louisville in November 2009 and accepted a wide receivers position at Texas A&M, but left the team citing family health concerns.

Kragthorpe was also the offensive coordinator at Northern Arizona, North Texas and Texas A&M.

Kragthorpe is the second name being thrown around for LSU's vacant coordinator position. TCU co-offensive coordinator Justin Fuente reportedly interviewed for the position this past weekend.

The position opened last Thursday when former offensive coordinator Gary Crowton accepted the same position at Maryland.

You would be getting a premier young mind if Applewhite went there. However, I really dont see it happening. He knows Harsin wont stay at Texas more than 2 or 3 seasons before a HC job comes up, and at that point the OC job is 100% his. Right now he is officially co-OC with Bryan Harsin, but Harsin is calling the plays.

He was a big catalyst for getting Mack's head out of his ass, and remember he left Alabama as an OC to come to Texas initially as a RB coach. He is the most respected QB across the board to ever play for us, and he seems to be 100% committed to making what happened this year a distant memory. I also think he wants to be around Harsin for a couple years and take the best parts of his offense to add to his own.

Former Texas OC Greg Davis is available if you like boring, predictable, unimaginative play calling ;)

You are probably looking right now at Jim Chaney out of Tennesee or Paul Chryst out of Wisconsin, who probably realizes now he screwed up by not taking the Texas job and needs to go to a premier program like LSU to solidify his chances at the NFL gig he covets.

Interestingly enough, rumors began swirling again here in Austin about Wisconsin OL Coach Bob Bostad being back on the table for our OL coach here at the same time Crowton took the Maryland job and Chryst popped up as a candidate for the OC job in Baton Rouge. When we were hammering around with Chryst, it was assumed he came with Bostad as a package deal, kinda like marrying a single mother or something.

You seem to be right Sarge the Applewhite rumors have faded away and he's way down the list of possible candidates now. I'd have liked to see him come home but have always considered him a turncoat for leaving the state to starrt with.

And given the sucess he had, I can understand why you would feel bitter. But that recruiting class still won you a BCS game and a division title. Cant blame him for going with Brown over DiNardo

To be honest I can't even remember how hard we recruited him at the time. No doubt he made the right decision for him but us purple and gold guys don't always see things clearly, lol.

I cant find any solid information on that, but Im sure Kingdome probably knows of a webpage that would have that information
