Redskins | Could go after L. Johnson Mon Nov 9, 02:19 PM
Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins could go after free-agent RB Larry Johnson (Chiefs), who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Nov. 9.
Our view: Redskins coach Jim Zorn said the team will likely sign a running back if RB Clinton Portis (concussion) can't play in Week 10. Johnson would be paid a prorated sum of $4.55 million base salary for the rest of the season. He is expected to clear waivers, and the Redskins may be one of the only teams considering him as a roster addition.

A player who used to be great with attitude issues that demanded huge money and never lived up to his contract....

sounds like a perfect fit in Washington

That it is. Jerome Bettis still thinks he has something to offer, but potential suitors like New England, Washington, heck even a team like Seattle will pass on him because of the issues.

I feel New England might consider him believing their coach is strong enough to handle him. Washington might take him because their owner has no scruples what-so-ever. Seatle will pass.

Yeah, Danielle Snyder might, especially since it could further ruin Zorn. New England.... I dont know. What is Taylor's status?

I dont see them wrecking a good thing bringing in LJ to New England. They dont have one back that does EVERYTHING well, but they have a nice stable of backs who do SOMETHING well.

Taylor is still out indefinately but has NOT been placed on IR. A story reports the Patriots did meet this afternoon to discuss Johnson.

Here is the question: This is the Patriots current backfield -
Sammy Morris
Kevin Faulk
Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis
Laurence Maroney
Fred Taylor

Now you want to add LJ? Could they end up placing Fred Taylor on IR?

Faulk/Morris do the work while Maroney/G-E watch, unless its one of the two-three weeks a year Maroney wants to come to work. Taylor was going to finally be that 3rd cog in the attack till he got hurt.

Maybe Larry can hold clipboards or something.
