Lions Rushing Attack: Thunder and Lightning?

Coach Jim Schwartz said that the workloads of Jahvid Best and Mikel Leshoure "might change from week to week." Schwartz views the two running backs' games as complementary, with Best as the perimeter runner and Leshoure the bruiser. Leshoure is a good bet to serve as the goal-line back and will also get more work when the Lions are nursing a lead. "[The split] might change due to injuries and player availability. It might change based on opponent," Schwartz said. The explosive Best still has value, but his upside has taken a hit.

Actually, it sounds more like the usage may depend more on the situations that develop during the game it self.

This is the best for all worlds to me. Best was not built to be an everydown back. But as a change of pace, and receiver out of the back field, and the "lightning" to LeShoure's "thunder" will only help him survive. Plus now they can rotate due to the defense's ability, and either pound the ball, or open it up more.

This also will make Stafford last longer as the team won't just have to rely on his arm.
