The Detroit News reports Lions RB Kevin Smith, who injured his shoulder in Week 3 against Washington, is hopeful of playing Sunday at Chicago. He was injured in the third quarter against the Redskins and left the game. Smith was on pace for a career day against the Redskins, already having rushed for 101 yards on 16 carries (6.3 average) at the time of the injury. His career high is 112 yards at Carolina last year. "I'm 22 years old and I usually heal pretty fast," Smith said. "I don't have any bone damage or anything like that.

OH No, not a GTD

From cbssports.com,

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz told the Chicago media on Wednesday that RB Kevin Smith will be a game-time decision for their Week 4 matchup against the Bears. Smith hurt his shoulder in the second half of last week's win over the Redskins. He had rushed for 101 yards before getting hurt. Maurice Morris took the first-team reps in his place and would likely see the bulk of the carries with rookie Aaron Brown if Smith missed the game.

I dont think they will throw Smith to the dogs. Best to avoid needless punishment against the Bears.

Smith a go in week 4?

From nfl.com,

Lions RB Kevin Smith told Mlive.com that he intends on playing this week against the Bears. Smith said this on Friday after practicing for the second straight day. Smith banged up his shoulder last week against the Redskins, and earlier this week head coach Jim Schwartz called Smith a game-time decision. Smith thinks the decision can be made now. "It's football so I'm sure I'll have to endure some pain, but it's good enough to go. I feel healthy enough to play at a high level," Smith said
