Shaun Hill will have surgery on his broken forearm Monday and will be out at least a few weeks, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Analysis: With Matthew Stafford still on the mend, it seems likely that the Lions will sign another QB for depth purposes in the coming days.
Coach Jim Schwartz said that Stafford (shoulder), who was nearly forced to enter Week 6's game against the Giants when Drew Stanton was shook up, was "still in a situation where any hit on his shoulder was going to set him back," Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. On whether he thought Stafford would be able to play after the Lions' Week 7 bye, Schwartz said, "that's our plan. That's our hope. But we still have a long ways to go there."
