Lions hire Jim Caldwell as HC

I think it's a fabulous hire for the Motor City football team. His resume is top notch. Worked with Manning then became head coach for the Colts and went to two super bowls winning one. Then he took the Ravens offense on a U-Turn and a super bowl win as OC after the Ravens fired Cam Cameron. He's got most if not all the tools he needs in Detroit if he can only bring some much needed discipline to the franchise.

That leaves only the Vikes and the hapless Browns in search of new head coaches.

As a ray rice owner, glad to see caldwell leave, didn't like his use of rice and play calling unless it was that idiot Flacco changing plays at the line. I guess Reggie Bush will let us know next year.
As a megatron owner, glad to see the hire.

Agree, this is a solid move, and better than Wiz. I also think this will be huge for Stafford.

Supposedly per PFT, they asked Dungy if he was interested, before they asked him for referral of Caldwell....

Not sure this is as great for Stafford as it is being sold...Flacco regressed again this year it appears. He had one great stratch with him, but overall not really much to get excited about from the Ravens ofense in 2013.

I was lucky enough to copy the main part of Caldwell's Raven playbook last week before he left and pasted it below:

1st down: run right or left, doesn't matter, for 2-3 yds.
2nd down: throw deep
3rd down: throw deeper
4th down: punt

if somehow a 1st down occurs: repeat
