(KFFL) Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has not ruled out pursuing free-agent FS Oshiomogho Atogwe (Rams), according to Tom Kowalski, of Mlive.com. "I think we'll just leave it with what we said before. Every chance we have to improve the team, we'll explore. Let's leave it there," Schwartz said.

This would be a nice move for the Lions to bolster up the secondary

The Rams have signed Atogwe to a multi-year deal, foxsportsmidwest.com reports. The Rams allowed Atogwe to test free agency, but ultimately getting him back -- presumably closer to their ideal terms financially -- is a slam-dunk, given his importance to the team's defense. He's coming off a season that saw him record 74 tackles and just two picks in 12 games, but Atogwe should bounce back stat-wise this year provided he can stay healthy, after having combined for 13 picks in 2007-08.

But these new Lions are always working it.

Lions signed S Randy Phillips. Phillips will try to make the team as an undrafted free agent from Miami. The Lions are very weak at safety behind Louis Delmas, so it's a fine landing spot.
