Leftwich left the game last night with a knee injury. It in unknown how serious it is, but there is some speculation that it is a torn MCL. If that is the case this will end his season. Even if this turns out to be a sprained MCL and it's not torn, it is unlikely you will see Leftwich in the first 4 games. Dennis Dixon appears to be Roeth's replacement now during the suspension.

Nah, nah, naaaaahhhhhh, nah. Nah, nah, nnnnaaaaaaahhhh nah. Hey Heeeeyyyyyy goodbye.

This will end Leftwich's career, and Pittsburgh's hope for playoffs.

One question on the side for Pittsburgh fans. At one time, Charlie Batch was the bomb for back up and replacement starter. He has seemed pretty good in fill in during the pre-season. But before this injury, I heard they were talking of cutting Batch.

what happened?

Link: Steelers' Leftwich out indefinitely with MCL tear - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Clipped from the Scott Brown article: Quarterback Byron Leftwich has apparently torn the medial collateral ligament in his left knee all but knocking him out of the games the Steelers had planned to start him.

Leftwich left the Steelers' 19-3 win against the Panthers Thursday night early in the second quarter after another player rolled onto his lower leg.

An MRI confirmed the worst for the Steelers, who since the spring have been preparing Leftwich to start while Roethlisberger serves a likely four-game suspension at the start of the regular season.
Dennis Dixon becomes the frontrunner to fill in under center while Roethlisberger is out. The Steelers also have Charlie Batch, who had been the odd man out in the competition to replace Roethlisberger.

This has turned out to be just a Sprain of the MCL and he will be out 4 weeks. This will take him out of the running to start during Roeth's suspension still, but it is better news than first reported.

So we get to see Dixon after all.

Lots of folks been clamoring to give Dixon a shot. This should shut them up for a few years.

Hope Dixon makes the best of this opportunity. And really glad Batch is still there. He's been a solid backup for along time and it was really disresectful of the Rooneys to bring in Lefty to start over either QB already there. Hopefully i have seen the last of Lefty on the field and he just crawls under a rock and dissappears.
