Ladell Betts - Thoughts

Portis is ruled out for week 10 with a scrambled egg, Betts gets his shot. Not sure how long Portis will be out, or how long he'll be back when he comes back for that matter. So does Betts have another magical run in him like 2006?

Betts is banged up too, so right now might not be great timing for him.

Redskins | Cartwright, Ganther likely will see time Week 10 Thu Nov 12, 10:50 AM
Rick Maese, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Rock Cartwright and RB Quinton Ganther likely will see playing time at running back in Week 10.
Our view: Both Portis and Betts are banged up, so the Redskins may look further down the depth chart for production in the running game. However, if they get behind early against the Broncos they will be forced to air it out in order to stay in the game.

I can't get impressed with Betts, even if he was healthy. At this point, if he could be "they guy", you would think he would be that guy either in Washington or somewhere else by now.

I guess I'm glad that I missed Betts on the waiver wire in my $$ league. I only needed a bye week replacement and Betts doesn't sound like a sure bet to me.

Betts expects to play:
"It feels ... it's a little sore when I was in there," Betts said. "I tried not to do anything too drastic because I didn't want to have any setbacks, but I was able to move around and I actually ran a couple of plays today, so that's a good start for me. I think I'll be able to go Sunday."

"It's not really my ankle; it's more my foot, like a foot sprain," Betts said. "But it's getting better. It's probably 75 percent right now."

Portis may sit out remainder of the season

Top running back Clinton Portis still is experiencing problems five days after suffering a concussion in the Redskins' last game, stirring questions about whether he might sit out the remainder of the season.

"He came in today. He still has a little, I don't know, if it was like a ringing in his head," Zorn said. "He checked in with our trainers. We sent him back home to keep him docile, if you will. We'll get a better evaluation next week."

"I'm not an expert concussions, so I would not begin to even try to speculate on" what the ringing in his head means, Zorn said. "I just know that we just have to be really careful with trying to get a guy back ... These are pretty difficult things to deal with. We're going to try to do the right thing."

It does not look like they are going to be in any rush to hurry Portis back. If Betts can get that ankle right the opportunity is there again.

Betts is doing what he does, taking advantage of an opportunity. Late in the 4th he is over 100 yds and a TD.
