Let the rumors begin.

Rumor #1: Demarco Murray told the team owner the team had "lost confidence" in Kelly. Might have had something to do with the decision

Which is French for " Kelly has lost confidence in Murray".

It's hard to go from best running back in the league to a back up to Ryan Mathews.

Maybe Murray should have considered this before he ditched the best O-Line in the league.

I just don't think Kelly's scheme works in the nfl. Time of possession matters in the nfl. Defenses need time to rest. They just can't hold up for 60 minutes when they are constantly on the field.

I would hope the owner wouldn't listen to Murray. However I do think this was a fair decision. Kelly jettisoned McCoy and Foles not to mention Johnson and Maclin in prior years then brought in his players and it didn't work out.

Okay, time for my Eagles rant.....

first and foremost, most of the players that were jettisoned were huge money players, it was for cap relief, long before Kelly that has been the mantra for Philly. That being said, he made some very bad moves. Murray for that much money, after being over used by Dallas, with the poor O-line Philly had was stupid. The loss of many key O-line, some for contract was bad, especially since they had no replacements in place. The defense was built small for speed, to get to Qb, but as stated above, the lack of ball control meant the defense was tired near end of game.

This needs to be a full clean house. I would jettison Murray and even Matthews(first for contract, 2nd for injury concerns) and start fresh. This season will be a loss due to bad trades and loss of picks due to them, so the rebuild will have to go full tilt next off-season, not this.

There is decent talent on this team. Young Wrs have promise, some OL and DL are studs. LBs are solid. Just need a real Qb, and a real offense that utilizes the tools they have better.

You know, after reading the release from Lurie, and doing some digging, I am starting to think this was all planned by Lurie, and staff. I think Kelly kept blaming not having "his" players, and Lurie said fine, here you go, sink or swim...and he sunk. I could be wrong, but that is how I have been reading it lately.

I agree somewhat here. Lot of quick 3 and outs and the defense was right back on the field. The first year, offense was more successful so it wasn't as big of an issue. Loved playing my fantasy players against the Eagles knowing they would get plenty of possessions.

Even when the offense was working, I was amazed by the lack of clock management at the end of halfs and games. They would hurry up even when the situation called for milking the clock and not giving the opponent another possession to end the half or game. Never understood that.
