Keep an eye on TE Gresham

Good article on the rookie TE. Looks like he's doing what all rookies should be doing this time of the year....being a sponge. Veteran TE, Reggie Kelly, seems to understand the role he is going to play and has been working with the TE to get him ready. Kelly is an excellent blocker and if he can work with Gresham in this area there is a very good chance you will see him on the field a lot. The Bengals are not known for using the TE much, but they went and got Gresham for a reason, sounds like he's going to be ready to contribute early on.

Until I SEE the Bengals learn to really USE a TE, I will get interested......dunno:

If you keep waiting for people to "prove" things to you your going to constantly be 1 step behind.....isn't forecasting what FF is all about. If everything was they way it always has been this would be an easy game. ;)

With that said, I don't see him making a huge FF impact yr 1.....but I do think he will be very good for that offense as a whole.

Rookie TE to be starter

Joe Bryant,
CIN - TE Jermaine Gresham could get starting job early
Source: Joe Reedy - The Cincinnati Enquirer

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham is expected to get the starting job if he reports to training camp within the first three days because he performed well during offseason workouts, reports The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy. TE Reggie Kelly could get the starting job if Gresham has a prolonged holdout or if Gresham takes a significant step back.

OUR VIEW

Gresham was the most talented tight end in the 2010 NFL Draft, and could be exactly what the team is looking for. The Bengals have tried for years (Ben Utecht, Chase Coffman) to upgrade the position and now finally have an elite level playmaker. Gresham can line up in the slot or as an in-line tight end, has strong hands, and is dangerous running routes over the middle

He negates some of what I thought Shipley might add to this offense. It's a double bonus, don't get me wrong, but it does dampen my enthusiam for Shipley some. Both are smart and athletic, and they are working the same area of the field. I add to this an Upgrade to Palmers status.
