Josh Freeman

"Its An Outrage"
Looking for some input on the future of J.Freeman.

Is he the true future of the Bucs ?? Or just a bust waiting to happen ??

I'm asking because i'm looking to move McNabb in my dynasty league and was offered J.Delhomme (yea i know LOL) & J.Freeman and a 2.07

I'm trading McNabb as he is my best option to gain a 2nd round pick, if i seal the deal it will give me

1.08 2.07 3.01 3.07 3.08 BTW its a all rookie draft

I like Freeman's long term potential but considering their best WR right now is Clayton I believe I am not sure of his immediate production. If they do not upgrade the wide out position you be relying on Delhomme?

Do you think you will be taking a QB early? Do you have a player targeted with the 2.07 pick or do you like the depth/players you anticipate will drop that far?

Not knowing your roster but if you can win now your best chance would be with McNabb in my opinion.

No i wont be relying on either Delhomme or Freeman as my starter and i'm not interested in either QB's but i may take Freeman, they were just thrown in the offer and will most likely just take the 2.07 pick offered

I will probably go RB @ 1.08 WR @ 2.07,

I wasn't thrilled with the trade to begin with but definitely do not see the advantage of off loading McNabb for a mid 2nd rounder.

Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

McNabb would most likely end up not being your starter by mid-season anyway and, even if he continues to play @ a #1 level, his days are numbered.

His value will only go lower as the season nears, IMO.

Freeman has potential to be a decent #2 this year and has a lot of years left to improve.

You can still get a good player in round 2 of the rookie draft so that gives you two young potential superstars in exchange for an aging veteran who just got dealt to a poor franchise.

Who is your potential starter at QB?

I wouldn't throw away my 2010 season for this move, but if you think you can compete with who you have then I'd snag it before Shanny does something to lower Nabs value even more.

Freeman should also have trade value with the guys who have Campbell, Orton, Roethlisburger etc. on their roster.

I tried to get a 1st rounder without any bites

McNabb isn't getting any younger and want to move him now, he cant go an entire season without missing games not to mention he is on the Redskins as recent history shows is the team that talented players go to die and i feel his stats will fall hard.

Thanks for backing my decision as i feel the same way about McNabb

My starter will be M.Cassel, under OC C.Weis IMO will excel this season

I too would pull the trigger. I don't think McNabb will be all that in Washington. Add to that he is only getting older and you get value for that. I also am somewhat high on Freeman. IF they get any type of Wrs ...he could be better over time. Plus you could get a heck of a Wr or even future Qb at 2.7.

If you believe Freeman is a longterm option for you I can see the reasoning for making the move. But at 2.07 who is the stud that you think will be available? Is this a league w/ IDP's?

Maybe a Dezmon Briscoe? Carlton Mitchell? I'm not sure I am confident they are future stars in this league.

You have faith in Cassel that is fine but Bowe is unhappy and Chambers is on the downside of his career. I could see this being another year of transition and not have anything to do with the QB but having a definite impact on his numbers. I would much rather McNabb as my primary back up if I am thinking of making any playoff run.

Granted McNabb is 33 but if Favre has shown us anything the QB can stay around longer than any other skill position and continue to perform at a high level. I don't see a sudden loss of talent by Donovan and can see Shanny making the most of the next few years.

M.Leinart C.Henne or M.Cassel i would take M.Cassel over these two.

As far as who i think will be a 2nd round stud obviously depends what team he lands on but for a RB i'm liking Stefon Johnson LeGarette Blount and Joique Bell, just to name a few, cant see all falling to 2.07.

Last years draft i grabbed RB Shonn Greene in the 3rd round so you never can tell who may fall to me

I would have to group all 3 of those QBs together as having potential but not having proved anything yet. You had posted an interest of going WR with the 2nd rounder and have responded with RB gambles. There are always players that succeed selected in the later rounds - I guess I would be more interested in your rate of success predicting that than listing isolated examples. Is it your contention that Johnson, Blount or Bell are going to have careers comparable to what McNabb has left in his tank?

The whole rookie draft no matter what round (except for a few players) is a crap shoot, one never knows how a rookie will do in the NFL so its tough to judge, many so called "College Studs" have had little to no NFL success.

WR i will be targeting at 2.07

Brandon LeFell -LSU, Riley Cooper -Florida, Dezmon Briscoe -Kansas, and although undersized is Jacoby Ford -Clemson.

I will have to watch some game film on Youtube to see how they run routes, get separation before and after the catch, will they shy away from the big hits in traffic etc......

I would be a little surprised if LaFell dropped that far but any type of run on a position early other than WR could easily cause him to slide. I think Briscoe would be currently available but I also think he may move up depending where he goes. The others I would expect to be there though.

Henne's stock just quadrupled today. I have him in Outlaw County (Dynasty) and was trying to trade him as a throw-in type guy to get a deal done. I'm glad now that he's still on my roster.

I would prefer Andre Roberts (Citadel) over the guys you have listed, depending on if he goes to a WR-needy team.

Thanks for all your comments and help, i just accepted the trade offer.

Thanks i will sure take a look at Andre Roberts.

I think Miami did themselves well by obtaining B.Marshall, 100 receptions three years in a row is some good stats to work with.

cbssports.com,
The consensus from Buccaneers camp is that QB Josh Freeman is way ahead of last year's rookie learning curve. He continues to crisply run the first-team offense, looking much sharper than backup QB Josh Johnson. Freeman said the overall timing and togetherness with the offense were not too good during the 2009 OTAs but this year it's much improved. Freeman also feels improved. "I feel older, I feel wiser, and I feel a lot better in our system," the second-year passer said. "I'm a little more assertive and more vocal."

Analysis: We love Freeman's game and think he'll eventually be a Fantasy sensation. But with two impressive but raw rookie receivers digesting the offense and little else among his receiving corps (he does have tight end Kellen Winslow, though), Freeman can't be considered anything more than a middle-of-the-pack No. 2 Fantasy QB. Once you see fellow second-year passers Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez fall off draft boards, you can count on seeing Freeman go next in the late rounds of deeper drafts.
