various reports available:
New York Jets RB Shonn Greene played 34 snaps in Week 16 and had a team-high 70 rushing yards, but the team decided to go away from the running game in the fourth quarter and Greene only rushed for eight yards on two carries during the quarter, reports Rich Cimini, of ESPNNewYork.com. Greene had his best fantasy performance of 2010, which isn't saying much: 12 carries for 70 yards and 1 TD, plus two catches for 14 yards. It was only Greene's second TD of the season.

Coach Rex Ryan hinted that LaDainian Tomlinson could be rested in Week 17 to gear up for the playoffs, according to the Jets' official twitter page.

It is possible that LaDainian Tomlinson will play little, if at all, in spite of the fact that he is just 80 yards from a 1000-yard season. Both Ryan and Tomlinson dismissed this as being of any importance and it won't affect the final decision. Expect to see Jerricho Cotchery in the punt return role and possibly Joe McKnight. Ryan said today of his rookie running back, "I think he's going to get a ton of playing time...He's earned his stripes."

Coach Rex Ryan plans to use Shonn Greene as a "battering ram" in the playoffs for the second straight year. Analysis: The Jets may rest LaDainian Tomlinson entirely this week, but it sounds like they may also use the Bills game as a tune-up for Greene heading into the playoffs. Without knowing those plans for certain, though, Greene remains a risky RB2 option in the finale.
