The New York Jets have reached an agreement with Offensive Tackle, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, on a six-year, $60 million extension including $34.8 million in guaranteed money. Ferguson has two years left on his current deal and will receive $73.6 million over the next eight years. Ferguson was a necessary resigning for the Jets O-Line which was among the leagues best last season. Last year Thomas Jones, Shonn Greene, and Leon Washington ran all over opposing Defenses, and although all three backs are talented, a great O Line is where that all starts. The Jets lead the NFL in rushing last year and the RBBC pie is only two slices this year instead of the three slices last year.

rotoworld,
Jets LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson's reported six-year, $60 million extension only guarantees him one year and $5.3225 million, according to Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio.

The rest of the contract doesn't become guaranteed unless Ferguson plays effectively and without serious injury in 2010. Ferguson's base salaries for 2011 and beyond are guaranteed only for skill -- not for injury. He will be guaranteed $22 million if he avoids injury in 2010 and 2011, but the real contract numbers aren't close to what was initially reported.
