It's time again! 2010 Rookie Dynasty Draft

gruntbusters

hehehe...heheheh..hehe...
Our league starts our rookie draft each year as soon as the NFL draft begins. To recap, it's a 10 team dynasty league with 30 man rosters. We play 1 qb, 1 rb, 2 wr's, 1 te, 2 flex spots(rb/wr), 3 IDP's and a kicker. We are in our 7th year I believe. We have two divisions of 5 teams which makes scheduling a bit tricky but the rivalry is awesome! Half of us are in the pacific northwest and the other half are down south in Cali area.

So, enough of that crap. Here is how our draft is shaping up so far:

1.01 Ryan Mathews, RB SD
1.02 CJ Spiller, RB BUF

1.07 Montario Hardesty, RB CLE
1.08 Sam Bradford, QB STL
1.09 Jimmy Clausen, QB CAR

2.06 James Starks, RB GB
2.07 Jermaine Greshem, TE CIN

like this each year, love to see the early ones!

Gerhart's lack of opportunity is what I don't like. Hardesty is in a better situation.

I think Gerhart will see much more action then people think despite the obvious hurdle.

Maybe so, but fantasy wise you're thinking you'd plug Gerhardt into your lineup before Hardesty each week? Hardesty doesn't have a beastly top 5 RB in front of him, he just potentially doesn't have any knees to run with. That was the part that had me a little nervous.

In a dynasty league I believe Gerhart will have the better career. That's it. Hardesty does have the better situation and might pay better immediate dividends but Gerhart will find a way to be productive. Peterson is getting old anyways ;)

All the other 2nd tier WR's are still out there as well, Gilyard, Williams, etc...but I think that La Fell has the best opportunity to take the #1 eventually. The only problem is the guys speed...hmmm.

It's a tough call.... I must admit I don't know much about the other 2nd tier guys myself, so other response may have to carry more weight. I do like the fact that he landed with the Panthers as they have needed a number #2 WR to emerge forever it seems. He is a big target compared Steve Smith who is short and fast. From a dynasty viewpoint, it is a big opportunity, if he can make a mark he will have a job forever. He may have some shifting around at QB.... Moore/ Clausen so that could be a bit of a burp.

And it sounds like the guy picking at 2.04 before me could be taking McKnight....I just really don't get it. He's not a Greene owner, he used to own Washington who never cracked his starting lineup, what is the fascination with the the 3rd down back in NY? I just don't understand how guys make picks like this as early as it is in the draft with so much other talent out there. Am I missing something about McKnight? Is he going to go off so absurdly that he is going to either overtake Greene as the starter or get traded into a starting role?

So there ya have it..the first two rounds of our Rookie Draft. This good enough or is anyone interested in the third as well?

Yes actually in our draft it is open to any FA available, but early on we focus mostly on rookies. Round 3 it is!

Well, I'm on the clock...any of you guys see someone that you can't believe it still out there? I am considering La Fell or Eric Dexter here, but want to make sure I'm not missing something. I am not big on either of these guys for one reason, neither project to be a true WR1.
