Is AP a top 10 fantasy player this year?

The news is all good thus far from the Vikes. Hail, AP is running up and down mountains for crying out loud. He's scorched his fellow Vikes in sprints. It's all feel good news, right? Few players come back from an injury like his in time to be fully ready for the start of the season. What? Who? Welker did it last year. Did he? Look back at Welkers numbers. He wasn't ready at the start of the season and he should not have been on the field. AP May, that's may, be on the field in week 1 this year but I doubt it. For sure the RB will not be 100% when the season kicks off. I'd say there's a real chance, at this point, that AP opens the season on the PUP list and misses the first 6 games. Again, even if he's active, he won't be 100%. There's no way a player with so many questions surrounding him can be a top 10 draft choice. Enjoy the feel good stories. Root like hail for this super human to mend but don't ruin your fantasy team by reaching for this former great player. Let someone else have the wool pulled over their eyes.

I HATE taking Rbs off major knee issues. It usually takes a full year to totally recover. I know he is sprinting, but he has yet to start cuts and contact. I would be very, very leery of all info like this coming out. I would take a chance in the 2nd or third, but not the first, not after he has had the knee. Not this year at least.

I would not rank him top 10 overall, I do think he likely comes in at the bottom of the top 10 in RB's. I would think he would be a nice 2nd round pick. I also think this injury has come along way in terms of sports medicine. It used to take much longer for a player to get back to full speed, that said, no way he's 100% at the start of the year. But by week 4-6, he could be getting there with no other set backs. I don't think you will see PUP here, and I do think he will be on the field early in the year, but temper your early season expectations. I also think he could be a good mid season trade target if he starts slowly.

He would be my 1st/2nd(which are virtually the same) pick in a redraft if I was 9th or tenth in a 10 team league

The key with drafting AP may be in the balance you pair him with. If your selecting towards the end of rd 1; you can look at an AP in the 2nd, but be sure to pair him with a consistent and safe player in the first and likely try to follow up with another on in the 3rd. Get that right balance of risk to avoid a complete flop.

Yep. Taking AP with a top 18 pick almost forces you to draft 2 RB's in a row and a 3rd pretty early to boot.

Not necessarily, but you better have some safe and consistent producers elsewhere. For instance, say you nab a Calvin Johnson or Aaron Rodgers in the first. Then come with an AP in the 2nd. I think that is a decent duo. You didn't grab another RB, but you know you have a top flight scorer on a weekly basis to plug into your line up for early on when AP could be slow to get going. The upside is high b/c by mid season you could have 2 top flight players at different positions. You should just make sure you have some mid round RB depth you are comfortable rolling with for a few weeks to start the year.
