IDP Waiver Picks

Week 1 IDP Waiver Wire

I am in 4 different IDP Leagues, Dynasty/Keeper/Redraft, 12/16/32 teams, ranging from 250 to 500 rostered players. Typically I will use more Waiver picks on IDPs than offensive players.
<O:p
You have drafted your guys and I would hate to tell you to drop anyone for the 1st couple weeks, but if you have a couple roster spots left or just have to replace 1 or 2 guys here are a few you might want to look at. These are a few guys I will be targetting for Week 1 Waiver Claims
<O:p
DL

<O:p
Corey Williams Det – Big game against Chi. Available in all 4 of my leagues and 99% of CBS leagues. Next 3 games – Phi, @ Min, @ GBP. All 3 teams will be looking to protect QBs from VandenBosh beside him. Should be good for 6/7 tackles/game with a sack and or Fumble Recovery every other game or so
<O:p
Sione Pouha NYJ – Who ?? Ya while I was writing this I just keep seeing his #’s going up. Part of a 3 man line, that I will generally avoid. Available in 100% of leagues at CBS Sports. Next 3 games are NEP, @ Mia, @ Buf. Might not score so well against NEP, but the Buf and Mia matchups look good
<O:p
Osi and Kiwanuka NYG – Both are available in 55/60% of leagues and both were in the top 10 week 1. Check your leagues wire
<O:p
LB

<O:p
Conners and Anderson Car – Nobody was sure who was going to step up when Davis went down. Good news. Both of these guys did and they are available in virtually every league. 17.5 Tck, 1.5 Sk, and 1 INT in almost an even spit. Tam, Cin, and @ NOS for the next 3 games. Can’t go wrong.
<O:p
Zach Diles HOU – He was a hot topic on hardcore IDP forums last year and seems to have slipped through the cracks this year. Definate starter at least until Cushing suspension is over. Next 3 games, @ Was, Dal, @ Oak
<O:p
Bryan Thomas NYJ – 2nd of 3 guys that just came out of nowhere tonight. 8 tackles with 1.5 sacks. Next 3 games are NEP, @ Mia, @ Buf.
<O:p
Derrick Johnson KCC – What a game. 11.5 tackles. Next 3 games, @ Cle, SF, Bye. I’ll take a shot on this guy
<O:p
Roger McIntosh – Came through with a Sack this week but more of a tackle guy
<O:p
For those of you in Yahoo leagues where DL and LB are the same position I would pass on the DL guys and just take the LBs
<O:p
DB ( Got 3 good ones for you here)<O:p</O:p

<O:p
Bryant McFadden Pit – Funny thing about CBs in fantasy football is they get points for making tackles. If they were doing their job the WR would not have the ball. Case in point, McFadden, 13 tackles this week. Think the rest of the NFL coaches didn’t notice this
<O:p
Jim Leonhard NYJ – If you get Return Yardage points in your league this guy is an automatic start. SS on the Jets D and the Punt Returner should get you a pile every week.
<O:p
Greg Toler – Like I said earlier. Coaches picking on a DB can be a good thing for you in Fantasy. 13 tackles this week. As long as he remains a starter he will see a lot of action

<O:p
<O:p
Remember, Taking a 5th or 6th RB or WR that you won’t start doesn’t help your team. Grabbing an IDP that will give you an extra 15/20 points per week as a starter could get you in the Playoffs. Have a good year

You must be some sort of mind reader, im in a IDP league with return yards, it is very unique in roster spots etc... and is driving me slowly insane. :runaround:

Cant thank you enough AD :thrash:

This is very useful to me as I am in that same league with Derringer. :cunning:

My IDP skills are not very well honed and I could use all the help I can get.

You should do this weekly and have them part of Sports Outlaws regular articles. :xpopcorn:

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Me and Miller chatted about this last night and decided this was the best place to put it for now. I will try and do this every week, but I may have trouble getting it done later in the season if I go back to work.

ESPN has Bryon Thomas listed as a DE

I used to look for these guys that were mislabeled. If you can fill a DLine roster spot with a LB you are way ahead. Last year in 1 league I had Dummerville as a Dline. He was the #1 Dline for the year basically playing LB.

I start using MFL from 1 of my leagues on my analysis. They are using Rotoworld to update player position and they are the quickest provider to update

I did this with Burgess last season , and Michael Johnson this season. Do you have any idea why Johnson didn't play in week 1???

That could be a very good pick. I like Leonhard more based on SS should generate more tackles. Also feel Jets will generate more PR opportunities than the Eagles will give up KRs

You have to be very mindful of scoring rules in IDP leagues. All 4 of mine have very different scoring and I tried to tailor this info for middle of the road, scoring wise. For instance Leonhard has better chances of achieving any tackle bonuses you may get, but Hobbs will probably finish the year with more INTs.

Way to hit the wire though. Good Job
