IDP question

Looking for the most consistent Linebacker for my team throughout the course of the season.

Assuming standard IDP scoring (if there is such a thing), who is the better option, Timmons or D'Quell Jackson?

I think D'qwell Jackson is the best option for 2 reasons.

1. Cleveland runs a 4-3 defense which means D'qwell is the middle LB and has to make plays from sideline to sideline. Having 4 DL's in front of him will help keep blockers off him and enable him to flow to the play and chalk up many tackles. Now he may not have a whole lot of sacks recorded but I think he did get one or two in the first week.

2. Cleveland does not have nearly as good an offense as Pittsburg which will most likely translate into the defense being on the field much more and thus increase D'qwell's oppornitunities to make plays.

Timmons may have more sacks but D'qwell will have many more tackles. If you want consistency I would go with the one that is going to get you steady tackle stats each week.

Deacon nailed it.

Also, look at Jackson's numbers the season before his injury. I believe he was a top 5 LB, if not top 3 depending on your scoring. And out of the gate he looks to be right back to his prior form. IMO not only will he be more consistent but also brings the potential for more big days.

Thanks for the input JScott. I like Timmons also bobbeuax, but these 2 strongly felt opinions have convinced me to go with Jackson. Thanks all.

Unfortunately, Jackson is the IDP version of Matt Stafford. (Top-5 potential over 16 games)
He should change his name to D'Qwell Jackson-If-Healthy. Elite as long as he's on the field, but he has the dreaded "injury-prone"tag.

Go Timmons simply for the security.

Timmons isnt that much better than guys you can snag off waivers in weekly plug and play matchups. You sure you wouldnt take a shot at DQwell?

Depends on how risk averse you are Sarge. Jackson's upside if he plays every game is very close to Patrick Willis due to the volume of tackles as a MLB in a 4-3 scheme on a team with a shaky offense.

However, Timmons was the #4 LB in Outlaw County and finished 18 points higher than Willis, and as you well know, it's a tackle-heavy scoring format.

I just personally steer clear of high-upside guys who I may be scrambling to replace at various points during a season.
