I'm seeing his name pop up all over the advice section, thought he earned enough attention to get his own thread.
Here's my take.
We are 2 games deep in the season and 1 and a half of those games have been quarterbacked by the 3rd stringer. Not taking anything away from Austin Davis. He's done a really nice job of keeping the Rams in the game and keeping mistakes to a minimum. But Davis is third string for a reason. He's young, untested and has a noodle arm. Frankly, I think he's playing scared and rightfully so.
So what does a weak armed, scared, inexperienced QB do? He looks for the guy he's been throwing to in practice. A number he recognizes. He knows where he will be and it's close and safe.
Bradford won't be back this year...maybe ever, but Shaun Hill WILL. Probably this week. Hill is a well seasoned (possibly OVER seasoned) vet that's been in the NFL 10 years.
So we know Hill isn't scared or inexperienced, or untested. At 34, I'm not sure about his arm strength. But I can tell you this. Hill looks downfield....always. Think of him as a Cutler type. Always looking for the big play. I watched him in Detroit playing back-up to Stafford and in my fantasy league I always handcuffed him with Matt and prayed Matt would get injured. (This was a few years back). I've seen what he can do and it's a helluva lot more than dink and dunk.
So just fair warning to all you Quick bandwagoners. The dance will change when Hill is under center. Not saying Quick will disappear, but he will be a little lower on the checkdown list.
