Hofstra, a well known Division I-AA college, announced that they will be cutting their football team all together. Their committee voted for this move unanimously Wednesday. The cost of the program far out weighed the revenue. Unfortunately, due to the lack of students, alumni, staff and community support, they have to get rid of the team. The $4.5M used to fund the football team will go to scholarships and other needs that Hofstra has. Since 1991 Hofstra has had 5 players drafted into the NFL, including Marques Colston, Kyle Arrington, Stephen Brown, Willie Colon and Wayne Chrebet.
