RB Thomas ready to atone himself -- Sun Jun 10 9:30 pm --
Second-year Dolphin blames injuries for poor rookie year
HC Joe Philbin and his staff have been charged with extracting more from young players, including three who GM Jeff Ireland coveted in last year's draft and are key to his vision for the offense: Daniel Thomas, Clyde Gates and Charles Clay. Thomas averaged just 3.5 yards per carry and now faces competition from rookie Lamar Miller for playing time behind Reggie Bush. "I know I've gotten better," Thomas said. "The injuries affected me a lot last year. They messed my mind up. I lost the confidence I had. I didn't have the same burst I had earlier." (Miami Herald)
FF Today's Take: When you consider Thomas' production in his first two games - when he ran for 107 and 95 yards - and his numbers thereafter (379 in the 11 other games), he may have a point. Now up to 235 pounds, Thomas gives Miami something no other RB on the roster has - the size to be a force on inside runs. Thomas also likes the change to the zone-blocking scheme. After a disappointing rookie season, Thomas has a shot to lead Miami in rushing and be a serious fantasy asset.
I was gonna drop him from a protected rookie list. Maybe I'll just hang tight for a bit
