Hillis update: Jamaal Charles???

Chiefs RB Peyton Hillis is open to whatever role the Chiefs want him to fill in their backfield, the Kansas City Star reports.Analysis: It's unlikely that the Chiefs made Hillis their first free agent acquisition and reunited him with former Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to spend most of his time paving the way for smaller backs. While he'll probably log some time filling fullback duties due to the Chiefs' lack of an established lead blocker, his versatility as a power runner and quality receiver should grant him plenty of opportunities to touch the ball, and it remains a possibility that Hillis will carry the heavier workload between he and Jamaal Charles depending on the latter's recovery from a torn ACL. Either way, Hillis' positive, open mindset entering training camp will be a welcomed change from the frustration and negativity that seemed to follow him in 2011 like a black cloud.

Not my analysis but it does strike some of the same cords with me. I don't know a lot about Jamaal Charles myself but I do know that many FFers really like him and expect big things even though he is coming off of injury. What is the take on Charles, what do you expect?

Maybe they convert him to a bush type back. Let hillis do the bw the tackles running. He should lose gl opps to.

Charles= lots of talent but he can't seem to stay on the field for one reason or another. Hillis landing there takes a lot of the shine off of Charles for me.

It always seems that I am reading about him in the injury reports even if he is playing at the time. But I haven't really kept track of him well enough to evaluate him. But I've never really had him on any of my teams as FFers seem to regard him highly and grab him before it occurs to me. But I am mostly in keeper leagues and only in two redraft leagues so investing a lot of research in Charles has not been a priority. So I am trying to find some Outlaw intel.

I am with Mud on this one. I think the shine has been taken off a bit. Just don't know if Charles comes back from this injury and ends up a top back. He doesn't seem very durable to me either, but potential is there.

Two things worked against Hillis last year, 1) Madden Cover and 2) Cleveland's schedule...man that division is brutal. He could be a sneaky play this season.

Best thing to happen to Hillis is Charles, the best thing to happen to Charles is Hillis. It is a proven record you bludgeon with one, then allow the other to burst. Since Charles does not have to carry the whole load, he can be used in key spots, and given more opportunties outside the pocket. Hillis has played FB, so both can be in the backfield together, making them even more potent.

I don't think both will be the studs they have been one time or another...but for a lower round steal....I will target one or both.
