Hasselbeck progressing, not ruled out for Sunday

While Seahawks coach Jim Mora says Matt Hasselbeck is making progress from a broken rib, the quarterback is still suffering effects from the Week 2 hit that forced him to miss last week’s game against Chicago.

Mora said at his Wednesday press conference that Hasselbeck hasn’t resumed running yet and still has pain when he takes deep breaths. Mora said Hasselbeck will not practice on Wednesday, but has not ruled his quarterback out to play Sunday at Indianapolis.

Conflicting reports? From cbssports.com,

The Seahawks are planning to be without quarterback Matt Hasselbeck again on Sunday. Coach Jim Mora said Wednesday he does not expect his three-time Pro Bowl passer to play at the undefeated Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. The 34-year-old Hasselbeck, who broke a rib 10 days ago, still can't run and still has pain when he takes a deep breath. Seneca Wallace is expected to start in his place.

RENTON, Wash. -- Matt Hasselbeck's broken rib hasn't gotten any better this week, so the Seattle Seahawks' quarterback is "very doubtful" to return for Sunday's game at Indianapolis.

Seahawks coach Jim Mora made that assessment after Friday's practice, but he said the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback will travel with the team Saturday morning.
