rotoworld,
Browns RB Montario Hardesty twisted his knee before camp opened and will miss "a few weeks," according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Hardesty has a history of knee injuries, so the Browns will play it cautiously. If beat writer reports are to believed, the rookie had a leg up on incumbent Jerome Harrison heading into training camp. The injury will allow Harrison to regain whatever traction he may have lost during the offseason. Hardesty will begin dropping in upcoming fantasy drafts, but we still believe he's a good value pick. There are six weeks before the start of the regular season.

"Its An Outrage"
Bummer for M.Hardesty

Now we can see if J.Davis has fully recovered from his injury of a season ago to unseat the much over rated and one hit wonder J.Harrison

(RotoWire) James Davis (undisclosed injury) is not at practice Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Analysis: Davis walked off the practice field midway through Monday's workout and did not return, but the initial feeling is that he'll be okay, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Once Montario Hardesty returns, Davis and Peyton Hillis figure to slot in as the team's No. 3 and No. 4 backfield options, assuming their health.

rotoworld,
Montario Hardesty disclosed that right knee injury was a bone bruise sustained during one-on-one tackling drills on the last day of Browns' rookie camp in late July.

The injury is unrelated to Hardesty's 2005 knee reconstruction. He won't play in this week's game, but he could see action in the Sept. 2 preseason finale against the Bears. Hardesty insists he'll be ready "way before the opener," and coach Eric Mangini is confident that he won't need "a ton of reps" to catch up. He already has a good handle on the offense after a strong spring.

(RotoWire) Hardesty (knee) will practice for the first time this preseason Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Analysis: Coach Eric Mangini said that Hardesty is questionable for Saturday's game against Detroit, indicating that the running back's availability will hinge on how he feels Friday. Either way, returning to the field gets Hardesty's quest to give Jerome Harrison a run for his money for the team's starting running back job back on track.

Hold the bus here. He was severely limited still in practice. Add to that that Hillis has had a great camp and has looked to taken over the #2 spot as the short yardage rb and as a receiver out of the backfield. Per a PFT blurb

(KFFL) Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty (knee) is being limited during practice Thursday, Aug. 26, reports The Associated Press. He is very questionable to play in the team's preseason game against the Detroit Lions Saturday, Aug. 28. Hardesty, who has a history of knee problems, suffered a bone bruise to his knee at the beginning of training camp.

(KFFL) Cleveland Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty (knee) was expected to push RB Jerome Harrison for the starting tailback job during training camp, but it appears Harrison has secured that entering the season due to Hardesty's injury problems, reports Jeff Schudel, of The News-Herald. FB Peyton Hillis has emerged as the team's No. 2 back, and he could become a short-yardage specialist or receiver out of the backfield if Hardesty is able to quickly make up ground.

(Rotoworld) The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Tony Grossi still believes RB Montario Hardesty (knee) will have the biggest impact of any Browns rookie. Analysis: "If Hardesty is as good as they think he will be, he will have the biggest impact on the field," explains Grossi. It's a bold prediction since Hardesty has yet to see preseason action while hard-hitting safety T.J. Ward is locked into a starting role. The Browns are clearly still high on Hardesty. He's a late-round steal in fantasy leagues right now.

Hurt again.

Hillis did not play in Thursday's preseason finale, Canton Repository reports.
Spin:
Montario Hardesty left Thursday's game early in the second quarter with a left knee injury however, which could pave the way for Hillis to see an expanded role in the coming weeks.

I'm still surprised James Davis isn't getting a chance here considering how highly he was touted last year. He did well in the preseason game tonight.

I admit, i am starting to buy in. I know cleveland does not believe Harrison can be an every down back and survive. So someone will be needed to bruise and bust up the inside.

I am really a Hillis fan now. :woohoo1:

We're not out much, and if he produces Alstott numbers we win. If he doesn't....no big deal.

Rookie running back Montario Hardesty has a torn ACL and will miss the entire season according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hardesty injured his knee yesterday in the preseason finale against the Bears. The one big knock against Hardesty coming out of college was the fact that he was injury prone. It looks like the nay sayers were correct.

The injury solidifies Harrison’s place as the starter with Hillis acting as the third down and goal line back. We think Hillis is going to be the back to own, as he has played well this preseason and Mangini seems to like his versatility.

:wow: Bad karma

Two years in a row they had a young Rb with promise, and lose them to injury. Understand that Davis hurt an ankle in the last pre-season game again too....so it is down to these two.
