While I like the new direction, I wonder if Cincy isn't more screwed.
Really....can it get worse then what Brat has done the last few seasons??? Not like they have been a top 10 offense, or even a top 15 offense for that matter in the recent past.
First, Gruden wants to run a WC type offense. Palmer is not a WC Qb, and the O-line is not a small mobile line for down field blocking. Add to that the ? at Rb, and only ONE Wr signed through next year.
Why do you say that Palmer is not a WC QB? B/c he hasn't worked one in the past? I think he is capable of running this type of offense under the right person. WR's are in transition, but they have some youth to build on and the WR's they do have may be a nice fit in that type of offense. Scott also may be a decent fit in an offense like this. I do not think Benson will return if they are going to a WC type offense. As far as the line goes....doesn't Philly run a WC offense?
315-358-320-321-340 - That is the size of their line, where is small and mobile in that picture? They seem to do OK.
By contrast, here is Cincy's OL last year:
316-345-320-332-335 - very similar in size to Philly.
OH, and secondly, if you totally revamp the offense...when are you going to learn it? OTAs may be gone this year due to CBA issues. We could literally see a CBA in August, and season starting in Sept. 3 weeks to start a whole new offense is scary.
This is a great point! But not something that some other teams won't be dealing with as well. This has to be a long term move, not something done simply due to the labor situation. May be rough at the start; but long term you HAD to go into a new direction.
I just hope this means they use the resources better.
Me too, but this is Cincinnati......not holding my breath.
I like Greshem, Scott, Shipley and Simpson more and more with this move.
Som of what I alluded to above, they have some players in Cincy and this may take advantage of this talent better.
