The Philadelphia Eagles have placed the franchise tag on Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick.
 
Ravens assigned the non-exclusive franchise tag to DT Haloti Ngata.

Colts assigned the exclusive franchise tag to Peyton Manning.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers will use the franchise tag on OLB LaMarr Woodley.
 
The Kansas City Chiefs have placed the franchise tag on LB Tamba Hali, reports Adam Caplan, of FOXSports.com.

Updating a previous report, the San Diego Chargers have placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on WR Vincent Jackson, reports Chargers.com. 'Vincent has been a valuable contributor to our team,' general manager A.J. Smith said Tuesday, Feb. 15. 'We want him to be a Charger.'
 
Vikings named LB Chad Greenway their franchise player.


Greenway, a highly athletic three-down defender, led the Vikings with 149 tackles last season. They simply couldn't risk losing one of the best 4-3 outside linebackers in the game. The tag should net Greenway more than $10 million on a one-year contract if the two sides don't reach a long-term agreement. This means that the Vikings are now exposing themselves to the possibility of losing fellow free agents Sidney Rice and Ray Edwards.
 
The Carolina Panthers placed their franchise tag on C Ryan Kalil Tuesday, Feb. 22, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. The team is not in active talks for a contract with Kalil.

Carolina had three different players they could target for Tags. Williams is one of them. But, now that they have tagged the Center instead, he will be free to sign with anyone. Makes Goodson's value huge...as Stewart doesn't always stay healthy.
 
I've read that the Panthers are still looking to sign D-Will and the chance is pretty decent they will do so b/c of Williams injury history is scaring most teams off of him. (I really hope he leaves though)
 
The Jaguars placed their franchise tag on tight end Marcedes Lewis, according to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. Analysis: Lewis will be guaranteed over $7MM once he signs his tender. The 26-year-old tight end set new career highs in receptions (58), yards (700) and touchdowns (10) in 2010, and Jacksonville will aim to lock him up with a long-term deal.
 
Dolphins applied the franchise tag to NT Paul Soliai. Coming off a breakout season, Soliai is the perfect candidate for a one-year, "make good" franchise tag. He may be overpaid at $12.381 under the tag, but the Dolphins were backed against the wall. They knew full well that Soliai would break the bank as a legit 3-4 run-plugger if he reached the open market. Soliai was the anchor on a shutdown run defense that was second only to the Steelers over the final two months of the season.
