GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley has confirmed that Charlie Weis is leaving to become offensive coordinator at Florida.

Weis has been offensive coordinator for the Chiefs for one year and is credited with helping turn Matt Cassel into a top quarterback and making Jamaal Charles a Pro Bowl running back.

"Charlie Weis is moving on. He's going to go to the University of Florida as a coordinator," Haley said. "This is a bittersweet thing for me as the head coach. Charlie was obviously someone I was excited about having in here. That being said, Charlie is a family guy and he's got a family situation, where he can go to Florida and be with his son, who is going to get into coaching. This is a great situation for Charlie and I respect it 100 percent."

Meanwhile, the rest of Will Muschamp's staff at Florida is taking shape.

The Gators hired receivers coach Aubrey Hill and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson. Florida also retained three current assistants Sunday. Muschamp kept running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Stan Drayton, linebackers coach/special teams coordinator D.J. Durkin and tight ends coach Brian White.

Weis is a good pickup for Florida. Now if he can finally stay somewhere and quit moving around so much. Guessing he came here to be next in line for the coaching job if Muschamp doesnt pan out.

LOL i agree. Did you hear the announcers said KC has one of the best opportunities to knock off NE in the AFC. WTF? didnt realize they were that stupid. Baltimore, imo, has the best chance to knock them off. Again.

Id like to see some link to a story about that Chris, but since Todd Haley stripped him of his duties at the half (and subsequently couldnt move the ball) anything is possible.

Little Napoleon Haley better pull his head out of his ass.
