First round RB's

I'd like to get some opinions on some of the RB's being taken off the board in the late 1st/early second rounds. Specifically guys like MJD, Mendenhall, McCoy, McFadden and Gore...

- Is MJD gonna be alright coming off his surgery? Will Jennings cut into his workload?

- Mendy carried a big load last year (385 carries after the Super Bowl) with a sub 4 ypc.

- McCoy and McFadden looked good last year, will their #'s improve?

- Gore was rolling along until he busted his hip... will he be back with a vengeance. Will he hold up for more than 3/4 of a season?

Are there any other RB's besides Foster, AP, CJ, Charles and Rice that you'd take ahead of these guys?

Thanks for your input

At this point if I were faced with a decision to chose one of these guys I'd probably go with McCoy (assuming it was ppr). After that I'm not to sure, I like what McFadden brings to the table but I'm not sure I trust him yet. Mendy's kinda boring, Gore and MJD are fun to watch and they'll put up good numbers if they're on the field.

Ryan Mathews is the only guy I see missing from your list that I think will join that group this year but he can be had later than early 2.

Blount in a non-ppr league is also decent as is Greene...but still later.

Not high on Mendy or McCoy at that price, MJD is ....MJD. He's still all that the Jags have and played with a torn meniscus. Can't go wrong there. Gore and McFadden are great choices if you're willing to roll the injury dice.

I put my marbles on DMac this year but I can't honestly recommend him.

Of the choices you have listed,
I would go : McCoy, Mendenhall, Gore, MJD and then McFadden. My fear of the latter three is those teams know they need to drop carries and rely on other backs, which will hurt production. All will end up with similar numbers though.

I agree with Phic on this one

for the record, I don't see Greene as anywhere near first round value. Hell, I wouldn't touch him in the 2nd. Not with McKnight and rookie breathing down his neck...and LT2 taking 3rd downs away.

Matthews the same, as he has to still prove he wasn't a wasted pick yet.

Just my $0.02

-McCoy is an explosive ppr option yet still a very solid Non ppr guy.

-Mendy is just very safe. He will get you double digit TD's and 1300 yards.

-McFadden is a guy I just can't spend on in the first. Can't logically explain.

-I won't be buying Gore or MJD in the first and they likely won't be available in the second.

Grabbing guys like Forte or Hillis in the late second will be money if you need the back or want to supplement your frist round back pick. I like them over McDadden, Gore, and MJD.

Forte and Hillis later would be steals!! Totally agree. But I have seen Hillis go first round.
