Every week for the next 6 weeks, Ryan and I will will use the ADP's on FFC to pick players in a mock just to see possible scenarios for every single spot in a 12 team, standard scoring league. On the show this week, we read off our first installment and now we'll post them on here with an open poll on who you guys think has, the better team. The teams below are from positions 1.01!

Average Draft Position (ADP) - Fantasy Football Calculator = ADP list. The rules were simple, you can choose any player below your current position on the ADP list, and any player within two ADP positions above your current pick. Note: This ADP list is based on the 24/7 mock drafts that are on FFC, so some of the players on the ADP list may have moved from when we picked them.

Not real excited about either team.

I gave it to Khris for the RB depth.

**Names in () would be my selections based on RH's alternative view on the ADP

While I like your team there, Miller, under the format of the challenge, it's invalid. Cedric Benson, Laurence Maroney, and Michael Crabtree have too costly ADP's for a selection.

??? Don't quite agree.

Benson's ADP is #22, I picked him at 24.
Maroney ADP is #118, I picked him at 120.
Crabtree is #46, I picked him at #48

Your contest, but I think your looking at that 3.whatever # and not the number picked. In simulating a draft, the most accurate way to do it is to look at the number of players off the board compared to the pick you are selecting. If you have a 2 pick cushion, it means for instance at pick #48, you are looking at players at least 2 picks within that number. All of my picks fit within that 2 ADP positions on the ADP list.

So drafting out of the 1 spot, that is an accurate portrayal of who would be available given the 2 ADP position flex rule you had posted.

Anyways, no big deal, just the team I would have selected given who may be around. I did toss in some alternative picks based on how you did this.

Further example of why you would want to look at the overall # and not the pick avg:

Also, by looking at the FFC's pick ADP like 13.6, it can give an inaccurate portrayal the later you go. For instance, look at the Bears D. ADP pick avg says 154.8 (13.11) yet they are the 168th ranked ADP. That means 167 players have a higher ADP and on avg come off the board sooner. That equals 14.12, not 13.11.

The difference is larger the deeper in the draft you go. But it holds true for higher picks as well. Let's look at Benson. You say it falls out of the ADP rule b/c it says 2.9 @ 21.1. Yet he has the 22nd highest ADP meaning 21 other players on average are drafted higher. Under the way you look to be interpreting this 3 players are selected at 2.9.....not realistic. But looking at the number rank you get an accurate portrayal of who may be there.

If that is how you looked at it I understand why neither of the teams jump off the page. You are taking way more players off the board for that pick than would be gone in a real draft format.

Yes, you get exactly what the challenge is then, Miller. The idea is to pick what the ADP is, regardless of the # of players off of the board, or where they fall in that order. The challenge is to pick the best available players past their ADP. I actually did a mock draft after doing the challenge to see exactly how close to the players that I picked I could draft. There were plenty of players unavailable to me in the challenge that were available to me in the actual mock. Mocking though, is not necessarily the point of the challenge. You can do that whenever. The idea is to pick out the best possible players when faced with nothing. Trying to create the best team when in a situation that is not ideal.

Like you said Miller, we're selecting a list of players that is far smaller than there actually would be in that situation, if you were in a real draft, but that's why it's challenging. We're attempting to make a contender, the best possible team that we can, with those rules.

So, how do you rate those teams, and how would you draft your own, under those circumstances. Literally an alternative, and what I feel more challenging, mock for any fantasy football nut.

Good deal, interesting take. Not sure I see a big difference other than selecting a way to restrict what you would encounter in a realistic situation. Take my draft for example, it changed 3 picks, and while I may have done it a bit different if I understood your rules prior, I still can't say I don't like the team and that the changes really hurt it at all. In fact, the change I disliked the most was the latest one. i love how far Maroney is falling and see a big drop from him to Hightower. other than that, I really considered Grant over benson, but wanted to spit up the packer duo. I also can't say I see a huge drop from Crab to MSW.

Anyway, fun exercise, will try to do some more as I have time and will try to play by your rules next time ;)
