FFO Official 2010 NFL Mock Draft

1. St. Louis Rams – Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma – 6’4”, 236 lbs.
QBs the most important position, and the last time the Rams were a contender, was when Bulger was playing well. They haven’t had a “franchise” type of QB since Kurt Warner, and it’s about time they get one. 2nd round options could include OTs Rodger Saffold (Indiana) or Charles Brown (USC). However, WRs Golden Tate (ND) or Demaryius Thomas (Georgia Tech) would be interesting weapons to target for the offense if they happen to be available. 3rd round, if they go OL should be WR and if it’s WR should be OL (Jon Asamoah, Illinois, or Zane Beadles out of Utah).

2. Detroit Lions – Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska - 6’4”, 307 lbs.
Ridiculous control of the line, Suh is able to dominate even when double and triple teamed. He’s a rare strength that requires much attention from any OL. Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma) is also a possibility here at DT. 2nd round options include CBs Devin McCourty (Rutgers), Patrick Robinson (FSU), Kareem Jackson (Alabama), or Perrish Cox (Oklahoma St). The Lions ranked dead last in pass defense last year. They need a CB here first, however they may take a safety like Eric Berry (Tennessee). 3rd round should either be OL (Jon Asamoah, Illinois, or Zane Beadles out of Utah), another DB (CB if they chose Eric Berry, someone like Brandon Ghee from Wake Forest, or Dominique Franks from Oklahoma, or Chris Cook from Virginia) or RB after Kevin Smith’s knee injury (Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech, or Monario Hardesty, Tennessee, or Ben Tate of Auborn).

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma – 6’4” 295 lbs
The Bucs are pretty much picking whoever the Lions do not. It’s either Suh or McCoy. No question. Warren Sapp claims that McCoy is the best fit for the Bucs at DT. His size and athleticism, although he lacks the strength of Suh, make him a finesse yet sizable adversary for OLs. Said to be a perfect fit in a 4-3 scheme. 2nd round picks should be WR (Demaryius Thomas, Georgia Tech – said to be a Megatron clone-, Golden Tate, ND, Arrelious Benn, Illinois or Brandon LaFell, LSU). The next pick in the 2nd should be defensive, whether it be LB (Jerry Hughes or Daryl Washington, both from TCU) or DE (Carlos Dunlap, FL, Corey Wooten, Northwestern) or DB (Nate Allen, S, USF). Personally… I want Dexter McCluster though, lol. Like to see another offensive threat in the 3rd, like a Mardy Gilyard or McCluster if he falls.

4. Washington Redskins – Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State – 6’5”, 307 lbs
We’re finally getting Okung in this draft. If he had come out last year, he would have likely been the #2 overall. Because he’s been dominate for that amount of time, he’s the top OT. Chris Samuels, Washington’s last LT is gone, so Okung is the candidate. No 2nd or 3rd rounder.

5. Kansas City Chiefs – Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa – 6’5” 314 lbs.
I LOVE Bryan Bulaga, personally, more than even Okung. He was a dominate player and was an unbelievable leader in college. In the bowl game too, he shut out #1 ranked DE Derrick Morgan from Georgia Tech. 2nd round pick should be either WR, TE (Jermaine Gresham, Oklahoma-super athletic-soft hands, Rob Gronkowski, Arizona- had 75 catches in 18 games started-kinda like Witten-missed senior year due to injury, or Jimmy Graham, Miami-good but average blocker), or DB (Nate Allen, S, USF). DT like Torell Troup from UCF or CB would be nice in the 3rd.

6. Seattle Seahawks – Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma – 6’5”, 310 lbs
Williams is a bit of a work out warrior that would follow up Walter Jones at LT nicely. 2nd round should be defense. For passing on Eric Berry, I’d like to see a safety like Chad Jones out of LSU, or Reshad Jones from Georgia. No 3rd.

7. Cleveland Browns – Eric Berry, S, Tennessee – 6’0”, 211 lbs
Would be a bit of a surprise if Berry falls this far, considering that after the 5th pick he really is the top talent on the board. Cleveland has a lot of holes that need to be filled. They could go Jimmy Clausen, or CJ Spiller, or even Dez Bryant. 2nd rounder should be Cold McCoy in any of those scenarios. If they choose Clausen in the 1st, it should be a Nate Allen or Ricky Sapp, LB, Clemson on defense. There are WRs available there too. 3rd round should be someone like Jason Worilds, DE/OLB, Virginia Tech, or Jamar Chaney, ILB Miss St, ILB Brandon Spikes, or OLB Thaddeus Gibson from Ohio State.. This is assuming they get a S/QB in the 1st 2 rounds. WR/RB is still an option for their later 3rd rounders.

8. Oakland Raiders – Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland – 6’6” 314 lbs
Yet another work out stud, Campbell ran a 4.85 at the combine and put up 34 reps of 225. This may be WAY too soon for a player like Bruce Campbell who is rumored to be too raw of a talent right now. Some even have him as low as the 3rd-4th rounds. Trent Williams is an option if available. As well, Jimmy Clausen is on the board but I just don’t see the Raiders going QB. There was also a lot of talk of DE, like Derrick Morgan or Jason Pierre-Paul. 2nd rounders could be those needed DEs like Carlos Dunlap, but I’d like to see Terrence Cody, the DT from Alabama. The Raiders LBs are all young, none over the age of 28, and a DT like Cody could free them up and help them make more plays. 3rd round, I could see a Perrish Cox or Dominique Franks from Oklahoma here. Or perhaps Chad Jones S, LSU.

9. Buffalo Bills – Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame – 6’3” 222 lbs
Still in the top 10, I really like Clausen here for the Bills. They’ve been searching for a QB forever it seems and he’s just an excellent fit. They have a good RB in Fred Jackson that can take some of the load off of Clausen and let’s face it, the Buffalo fans are some of the best ever, period. He’ll have the ultimate support that his ego needs and he will be the face of the franchise. A good pick up after Clausen in the 2nd round would be Charles Brown, the OT out of USC or even Rodger Saffold from Indiana. Another option is RB if they end up dealing Lynch or perhaps WR now that TO is gone. 3rd round should be one of these, depending on what they get in the 1st.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars – Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech – 6’3” 266 lbs
Derrick Morgan has climbed over the last couple of weeks to the top of the DE board, just above Jason Pierre-Paul. For that simple reason, JPP is also an option here. I think with the acquisition of Aaron Kampman, you’re showing that you have basically committed yourself to improving your pass rush, which is so extremely vital in their division. Line Morgan up with Kampman and you have one hell of a duo. Because they don’t have a 2nd rounder, Timmy Tebow is still a very unlikely option for the Jags. 3rd round could be Tony Pike, Jacoby Ford or Al Woods (DT, LSU) or Cam Thomas (DT, North Carolina), but I would like to see either Zane Beadles, the OT from Utah or Jon Asamoah, OG from Illinois.

11. Denver Broncos – Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama – 6’4”, 254 lbs
Basically a coach on the field, McClain can be the true technical leader that the Broncos need to complement the emotional, verbal, and powerful leader in Dawkins. The Broncos are still rebuilding their 3-4 defense and I think that McClain would make one hell of a strong side ILB in that scheme. With the loss of Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant is a possibility but an unlikely one. However I think they solve that hole in the 2nd with Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois or Demariyous Thomas. With their 2nd pick of the 2nd round, the Broncos can stick with the defense and go CB, maybe even LB again with Jerry Hughes from TCU or Ricky Sapp from Clemson or even Sean Lee from Penn State. The other possibility is QB- Tony Pike, or Tim Tebow…

12. Miami Dolphins – Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas - 6’3”, 250 lbs
I’m a fan of Kindle in that he was a very explosive and fun player to watch. He has the speed to be found around the ball every single play, and made many of those plays in the back field in college. Miami needs just one more piece of that LB puzzle to have a good core to build off of. Now that Jason Taylor isn’t resigned, they may have Kindle play stand up DE. Another option is Kindle’s college teammate Earl Thomas at S, who is a hybrid DB, much like the Dolphins pick of Sean Smith last year. Also, they could go NT with Dan Williams from Tennessee. This would be a huge help that would boost their current LB core quite a bit. There’s also JPP to take over for the void that Taylor will leave. No 2nd rounder in the trade for Marshall. 3rd round pick could be Cam Thomas, DT from North Carolina if they choose Kindle in the 1st.

13. San Francisco 49ers – Joe Haden, CB, Florida – 5’11” 193 lbs
Because the 49ers have two 1st round picks, and need a defender and an OL with those picks, I had to take Joe Haden ASAP. He really is the only true shut-down corner in this draft and because of that, he may not be available to the 9ers come pick 17. Another option would be Earl Thomas or one of the many OL available right now.

14. Seattle Seahawks – CJ. Spiller, RB, Clemson – 5’11”, 196 lbs
I love CJ Spiller, have for years, but there’s something about him that makes me feel like he’s not going to be a franchise RB. Not to say that he wont benefit a team and be a huge threat to opposing defenses… I just feel like he’ll end up being a big play capable kind of back. More like a Reggie Bush kind of back in the NFL. Still, Pete Carroll did great things with Bush, and here at 14 I think he could make a star out of Spiller.

15. New York Giants – Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri – 6’1” 239 lbs
The Giants have a very good offense and did well to acquire a couple of WR prospects last draft to fill the gap left behind by Plaxico Burress. Now it’s time to rebuild that defense. For the Giants, their needs are LB and S. Sean Weatherspoon reminds me so much of Aaron Curry from last year, it’s crazy. He may not be as dominate as Curry was coming out, but Weatherspoon will find a starting job in NY quickly. 2nd round, I like Nate Allen for the Giants, a lot. Also, Taylor Mays may find himself falling to mid-second. 3rd round is filled with OTs, LBs, and even RBs like Joe McKnight from USC.

16. Tennessee Titans – Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF – 6’5”, 270 lbs
The biggest need for the Titans is DE and because they don’t have a 2nd round pick, I don’t think that they can afford to go anywhere else but DE. Whether or not that’s JPP is up for debate but since he’s the top DE still on the mock board, we pulled the trigger. Another great pick would be Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee, but again, without a 2nd round pick options are severely narrowed. 3rd round could be Jason Worilds, LB from Virginia Tech, or Al Woods, DT, LSU.

17. San Francisco 49ers – Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers – 6’5”, 323 lbs
Davis may be the single most talented player left on the board, but he’s a moron. Just another case of the talented with no sense whatsoever. He showed up at the combine out of shape, and reports are that he interviewed poorly. However, he’s so damn good. San Fran could assist their offense tremendously if they make this their 2nd 1st round pick. At pick 49 in the 2nd round, I would love to see San Fran with a pick like Jahvid Best or Georgia Tech RB Jonathan Dwyer. And then, at 79 in the 3rd they could snag a player like Jacoby Ford to boost their WR core, or even better, QB Tony Pike out of Cincinnati.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers – Maurkice Pouncey, C/OG, Florida – 6’4”, 304 lbs
I think you put Pouncey in at RG on day one and let him do his thing. A hardly talked about stud, Pouncey started in front of Tim Tebow and blocked against the best of the best his entire college career. 2nd round pick should be DB. I really like Kareem Jackson from Alabama, Nate Allen or Jerome Murphy from USF. 3rd round should be WR to fill that Holmes hole, as well Ward is getting up there in age. I’d like to see Jacoby Ford or even Carlton Mitchell here.

19. Atlanta Falcons – Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan 6’1” 268 lbs
Very quick edge rusher, that also uses his hands very well, Brandon could assist the Falcons in their attempt at topping the Saints for supremacy in the NFC South. He won’t find himself on the sideline often as he showed that he can be a force in the Senior Bowl. Their next pick wouldn’t be until 83 in the 3rd round, but how about Matt Tennant, the Center from Boston College. He’s Matt Ryan’s old C in college, and showed during his Senior Bowl practices that he can stand his ground against some of the best DTs in the country.

20. Houston Texans - Earl Thomas, S, Texas – 5’10”, 208 lbs
Exceptional cover S, Earl Thomas could get the Texans one step closer to beating the Colts at least once a year. Thomas would also be a local favorite from Texas. Another option is Kyle Wilson of Boise St and Fresno St RB Ryan Matthews. As well, Taylor Mays is falling down people’s draft boards but I happen to find him better than others. I think he too would be a good fit here. In the 2nd round Houston could be interested in a RB since they took Earl Thomas in the 1st. Jonathan Dwyer from Georgia Tech (averaged 6.2 ypc) may be available as should Heisman Trophy candidate Toby Gerhart.

21. Cincinnati Bengals – Taylor Mays, S, USC – 6’3” 230 lbs
Sorry Dallas, but I got Mays gone at 21. Pretty much a freak of nature, Mays is one of the hardest hitting S you’ll ever come across, that happens to also be one of the fastest. IMO, he’s the next Polomalu. He should work on his hands a bit more, and open field tackles, but he’s got everything already going for him. Other possibilities include Dez Bryant, who is REALLY hard to pass up here. As well there’s Jermaine Gresham (TE, Oklahoma) available. In the 2nd round, I’d love to see them snag Rob Gronkowski, TE, Arizona, if he’s still available (assuming they go D in the 1st), however, I loved their pick last year of Chase Coffman in the 3rd, and I don’t know if I’m ready to give up on him like everyone else. That’s really why I went defense with the 1st pick. Another possibility is Dexter McCluster at that 22 spot, or Geno Atkins, a DT from Georigia (but they did just resign Tank Johnson). 3rd round could be Javier Arenas, CB from Alabama that’s a really good nickel back, or Myron Lewis, CB/S Vanderbilt (Great tackler).

22. New England Patriots – Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State – 6’2”, 225lbs
Bellichick is the perfect coach to keep Bryant under-wraps. His attitude dragged him to the 2nd half of the draft but that may have been a blessing for Dez. He’ll have at least one year to learn under Randy Moss, who has already came out and said that he doesn’t believe the Pats will renew his contract, and Wes Welker is coming off of a severe knee injury. This is the perfect opportunity for the Pats to snag their next generation #1 receiver with Tom Brady. Other possibilities here look to be Jermaine Gresham, TE from Oklahoma (who could actually still be available at their 44th pick in the 2nd). They just signed Alge Crumpler so they do need a TE. With 2 2nd round picks they could benefit from a player like Jerry Hughes or Ricky Sapp at LB. Also, there’s a chance that Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois will be available there if they decide to pass on Dez Bryant. Also, with that 47th pick, don’t be surprised if Tim Tebow makes his way to NE. Another possibility is Linval Joseph, DT from ECU or Jahvid Best, RB, Cal.

23. Green Bay Packers – Mike Iupati, G, Idaho – 6’5”, 331lbs
Easily the best G in the entire draft, GB NEEDS OL! Aaron Rodgers was the most effective QB on 3rd down in the entire NFL, and his stats were in the top 5 otherwise, however he found himself on the ground more than almost any other, giving up 34 sacks. Their OL is really young, but they’re clearly not cutting it. Another good option is Bruce Campbell, OT of Maryland or Rdger Saffold, OT of Indiana. For their 2nd round pick I think a Patrick Robinson or a Jerome Murphy would be wise to play behind (and next to in nickel situations) the post 30 CBs Al Harris and Charles Woodson. Also, with the loss of Aaron Kampman, they may try and snag a Carlos Dunlap in that 2nd round, if he’s available. In the 3rd round, I really like Jason Fox from Miami. Last year I watched him dominate JPP most plays. Near the end of the game JPP got the QB but Fox was far more physical than JPP was the whole game.

24. Philadelphia Eagles – Kyle Wilson, CB/S, Boise State – 5’10, 197 lbs
Very talented CB that made one hell of a scene during the Senior Bowl. Right behind Joe Haden on most boards, although personally, I’m more of a fan of Perrish Cox, lol. 2nd Round, should be Nate Allen at 37. Then, with their 2nd 2nd rounder, John Jerry, G from Ole Miss would really benefit their new QB and RB for this season. With their 70th pick in the 3rd, I’d be really impressed with Cam Thomas, the DT from North Carolina, or Jacoby Ford. Moving back though, they also have the 87th pick in the 3rd, so they could get a Montario Hardesty, RB from TN, or Geno Atkins, DT from Georgia.

25. Baltimore Ravens – Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma – 6’5”, 261 lbs
This would be a HUGE upgrade at a catching TE over Todd Heap, even though he really is Mr. Reliable. Baltimore should honestly take best available at this point. They’re set at RB/QB, and they got Boldin. With a really good TE, they could use the rest of the draft to add depth to their aging defense and OL. For example, Depending on GB’s 2nd round pick, Baltimore could be left with either Patrick Robinson (if he falls) or Jerome Murphy at 57 (or OT Vladimir Ducasse of Mass, or OT Jared Veldheer of Hillsdale). There’s also Morgan Burnette, S, Georgia Tech (could really be an Ed Reed clone with a bit of work- great coverage skills), or Sean Lee, LB from Peen St.

26. Arizona Cardinals – Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB, TCU – 6’2” 225 lbs
With the recent loss of Karlos Dansby, even though they picked up Jerry Porter, I think that the Cardinals should spend a pick on someone who can fill LB roll for the next 10 years. On the board, Carlos Dunlap is a possibility, but I like Hughes more. In the 2nd roundOT would be good. There’s a strong likely hood that Jared Veldheer or Vladimir Ducasse will be available there. With back to back 3rd round picks the Cardinals could fill in some needs at CB with Brandon Ghee (Wake Forest), Dominique Franks (Oklahoma) or even Chris Cook. I’d like to see them follow up with a TE, perhaps Jimmy Graham (Miami), but I LOVE Dorin Dickerson out of Pitt.

27. Dallas Cowboys – Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee - 6’2” 327 lbs.
Jay Ratliff will be turning 29 this year so it’s a good opportunity to solidify his replacement. Dan Williams had a fantastic Senior Bowl and because of that, is now considered a 1st rounder. I think that he could be quite dominate in a 3-4 NT position. This pick is mostly because Taylor Mays is off of the board. Nate Allen is an option but I felt like it was a reach. They have the 59th pick in the 2nd and it would be a perfect position for Morgan Burnett, S, Georgia Tech to be drafted. In the 3rd too, Major Wright at 90 wouldn’t be a bad selection.

28. San Diego Chargers – Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno St – 6’0”, 218 lbs
A good complement to Darren Sprolles, Ryan Matthews, a back that doesn’t have much wear and tear on him would be a solid pick.3rd round pick could be someone like Alex Carrington to play on the line, either DE/DT, from Arkansas State. There’s also Major Wright, FS from Florida that should be available then.

29. New York Jets – Jared Odrick, DE/DT, Penn St – 6’5”, 304 lbs
Jared is falling on a few draft boards but I think he’s just what Rex Ryan needs. There’s been plenty of off season acquisition for the Jets all over the place, and this DL draft pick would help a lot, if they plan on making it anywhere near where they were last year. In round 2 a Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale or John Jerry, G/OT, Mississippi (Damien Woody’s getting old).

30. Minnesota Vikings – Brian Price DT, UCLA – 6’1”, 303 lbs
Pat Williams is getting old and will likely retire within the next couple of years. Price can play behind him for a year or two, slowly getting reps, and then take over after he leaves. I didn’t go CB, because I felt like I’d be reaching here. Price is worth this value. On the other hand, Chris Cook will likely be on the board come their pick at 62. There’s your CB from Virginia! A LB like Thaddeus Gibson from Ohio State or Donald Butler from Washington would be nice for them in the 3rd.

31. Indianapolis Colts – Rodger Saffold, T/G, Indiana – 6’4”, 316 lbs
The Colts aren’t the strongest team at tackle, and when you’re the strongest team everywhere else, I guess you try and buffer that little bit of weakness. In the 2nd round, they could go Tyson Alualu, DT, California. Either that or DT 1st, OT 2nd.

32. New Orleans Saints – Everson Griffen , DE, USC – 6’3”, 273 lbs
Most of the sacks last year came from Will Smith and the Saints would love to balance that out. They have one of the best secondaries in the game and a little more pressure would only make that even better. Even though they signed Alex Brown, they could use Griffen. With their late 2nd round pick, I think that Eric Norwood would be one hell of a fit, as they would have preferred if Sean Witherspoon had fallen this far.

Thanks for putting this up. These things are a crap shoot, I liked yours. Our local sports jocks had one yesterday, completely different! It was interesting as the had local reporters form each team calling in to make picks for about 2/3s of the teams, very interesting.

I would like an assessment of the developmental potential for Campbell if he went to Oakland. Would it actually be a help since if I remember Cable was an OL coach?

Spillar to Seattle. Isnt Forsett kind of in that mold, or would Forsett serve as the ''bruiser'' in that backfield?

Dallas: Given the fact the division features aerial offenses, would you recommend a trade down from 27 if Mays isnt there?
Posted via Mobile Device

McClain to Denver: What about the fact they are screwed at WR? Do you see them going WR in the second or third?
Posted via Mobile Device

Mays to Cincinnati: Would the established chemistry between Rey Malawhatever and Mays be a benifit to this defense? im not sure of any similarities between the old USC scheme and Zimmer's

Don't forget about Rivers as well. It would be the 3rd straight year of a USC defensive guy early in the draft.

Sarge, I do believe that if Mays is gone, Dallas should think about trading back. Not that Williams wouldn't help them, but I think they could get tons of value in the 2nd round and later if they drafted back. Lets take the Bucs for example. If Dallas is sitting pretty up in the 1st, and the Bucs have like 12 draft picks, 2 of which are in the 2nd, they could offer a 2nd and 3rd for that 1st rounder to get someone that they may covet who's still on the board (not that the Bucs would ever do something that drastic and awesome though)

As for Denver, they have 2 2nd round picks. I'd like them select either Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois or Demariyous Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech, with their first one, if they're available. They can solve their WR issues outside of the 1st round. That may simply be for the best. There's no WR talent in the 1st worthy of the 11th pick - at least not for Denver. They also need a TE now that they traded Tony away.
