Falcons RB Norwood Missing Practice time.

Jerious Norwood was pulled from Saturday's practice after experiencing soreness in his hip. While it is early to be keeping an eye on injuries a bad hip was the nagging injury that slowed Norwood down last year. Norwood has always had some sort of nagging injury that prevented him from being one of those fantasy useful change of pace guys. Keep an eye out during camp as Jason Snelling could be the primary handcuff to Michael Turner.

Norwood just can't seem to stay healthy. For a couple of years I dutifully drafted him to handcuff with Turner just to see him unable to preform. He just isn't dependable, period.

A lot of Turner owners that drafted Norwood as a handcuff along with some that drafted him just on the potential of putting up good numbers. Both got burned.

Here is something on Turner this year.

Michael Turner
conceded that he fell out of shape last offseason. "I was big in the shoulders and the arms. My face was plump," said Turner, admitting that he didn't do enough conditioning after the 2009 season. Writers covering the team even joked that "Burner" was making a switch to fullback. The sluggishness may well have contributed to his slow start last year. Those covering the team this year have noticed a sleeker Turner, carrying his weight much better.

Making jokes about Turners being overweight. Did they report it, I don't remember reading it.

I was pretty surprised when Atlanta came away from the draft w/o picking a developmental RB. Turner's approaching age 30, Norwood's been fragile and isn't a feature back, and Snelling's had moments but is mostly unproven.

rotoworld,

Jerious Norwood (hip) returned to practice Tuesday, as expected.

Norwood, one of the most brittle running backs in the league, was held out of minicamp earlier this month due to lingering soreness in his hip. He'll have competition from Jason Snelling for change-of-pace duties this year.
