Ertz Signs 5 yr 42.5 mil Extension

This makes him the 4th highest paid TE in the NFL.

I'm not sure I get this. o_O

3 years in the NFL and so far has been mediocre at best. He loses snaps to Celek because he can't block and to me has shown nothing even close to top 5 TE talent. He came on strong at the end of last year but guess what?
The head coach is gone now and the QB situation is up in the air.

Who knows what kind of game plan Pederson has in store but he reads to be run first and not known for his TE usage, though that seems unusual for an ex QB. Might be because Jamaal was the only real weapon he had.

All I can get out of the reports is that he was extended because he works hard and is a good guy.

Pederson is also a fan of hard work so maybe that explains a little, but still...

That's an awful lot of money for a guy that averages 50% of the snaps and 3 TDs a year.

Okay, Pederson is Reid part duex, Reid made Te's like Brent Celek viable to use in Fantasy. Look at how Kelce has improved and produced in KC and you get the potential of Ertz in Philly. Please note though...he can get banged up...so there is that risk.

No argument at all except there is a big difference between "viable" and 4th best in the league. (based on salary).

Most players have to perform at an elite level before they are given elite level pay. Just seems like an unnecessary risk to take on a TE that has yet to prove he is worth that much.

Funny, just got a blurb that they re-signed Celek as well for pretty good money. Hmm...

Maybe Pederson is gonna be Belichek Duex.

There's going to some very good TEs demanding BIG raises this year.

Yes, Celek is the more accomplished blocker, but also better in the Red zone in the past as well.

We could be seeing the beginning of a "ball control" era in Philly.

How much cap space they working with Phic?

Not a ton, but they have some room. They dropped a ton of salary last year with cuts on O-line and McCoy to Buffalo. What happens at Qb will be telling, and if they still eat the big contracts at Rb as well.

It will be a west coast short passing game type offense again. Look at Andy Reid years as far as what to expect. Assuming they have a decent Qb, and get a real O-line.

I am actually more psyched over Jim Schwartz taking over the defense. They have some real talent, and he loves to put pressure on the other team.
