Edge and saints still talking

Strong chance, if this comes to fruition. Seems like this (RBBC) is the perfect solution to prolonging high-mileage RB's careers past the magical "age 30" barrier.

Okay, I need to ask the question Why?

Why is this a good fit for Edge? He was pissed he was not starting in Arizona...so now he will go to New Orleans to be the #3 back behind Pierre and Bush????

I don't think so. My gut tells me that Edge holds on till someone gets some injury issues (ala Benson last year for cincy....) and then signs to play and play alot.

kinda what i was thinking when i saw this . . . edge would be good for the saints and very good for thomas in a "learning from a great" perspective, but the role is not really what edge wants . . . with that said, i don't believe he'll find a lead back role on any team this year until the injury bug hits . . . ;)

  • The Advocate reports New Orleans Saints HC Sean Payton was asked if he felt a sense of urgency to add another power running back, whether it be veteran free-agent RB Edgerrin James or someone else. “Not right now,” Payton said. “I know a lot has been written about that but I think the guy we're looking for may already be in the building.”

  • New Orleans Saints HC Sean Payton has said throughout the offseason that he would like to add a power running back to complement RB Pierre Thomas and RB Reggie Bush, and there's a good chance New Orleans will still add a veteran rusher through free agency. Thomas, however, is out to prove that he can be the hammer Payton is looking for. He showed up at OTAs on Thursday carrying an extra 10 pounds, according to reports, much of it in his lower body, where he has worked on building leg strength. Thomas will enter the season as the Saints' primary back, but he has struggled in third-down and goal-line situations when given the opportunity in the past.

Last I read was the possibility of no one being brought in since Mike Bell has been doing well - would he be enough to carry them until the undrafted rookies prove whether they are worth roster/practice squad slots?

Kinda glad this seems to have fallen thru. Didn't make sense to me, James doesn't seem like a good fit here. Saints didn't need to spend the money for him, they have the rb position covered now it looks like.
