Knocked this one out in about 8 minutes this morning. There was only one actual other person at the onset, but he left after round 2, so the autopicks were flying by quickly.
Not completely disappointed if I had to go to war with this team, but it was challenging because I had very little time to digest who was picked and who was available each time my choice came around.

Hey Wes, the heading says 12 team mock, but I see 16 teams listed.

When I looked at your team, I thought it looked OK, thinking it was a 12 teamer.

Then I realized there were 16 teams.

Now your team looks really good.

ROFL! I was like, "WTH is ER talking about??"

Solid team for 12 team league, brother. I love the QB/RB/TE especially. Your WR core is your weak point and they're not even all that bad. Well done.

Nice going. With hindsight being 20/20 if taking Forte with your first pick and seeing where the others fell I lean toward...

02: Instead of banking on Brady returning and immediately playing at his previous level I would be sorely tempted to take Calvin Johnson.

03: Having taken a WR I would opt for my 2nd RB and Stewart was the closest selection that caught my eye.

04: Having passed on Brady I would grab Ryan here and pass on Housh.

05: Witten is nice value and fills a need even with my revisions.

06: With Stewart in a a time share at Carolina taking Parker is a smart investment

07: Having 3 RBs and short on WRs I would opt for Hines instead of an aging Lewis

08: Still short on WRs I would pass on Jones and nab Breaston

09: I like your Wells pick now that I have collected a few Wrs

10: Chambers should be a good for another season so I would stick with that pick as well

11: Delhomme will be a great 2nd QB

12: I initially was going opt out of the Minny D pick for Rice but decided against it because...

13: I opted for gambling on Nicks longterm potential over Jenkins history of disappointing on this pick.

14: McCoy is a great 5th RB to have on the bench

15: Pat White is listed as a WR but also provides you with a 3rd QB (I think eventually he will prove himself a QB)

16: Folk is a great K to be picking up in the final round

I'd take Forte..
and then with 2. Id take Turner

and then with 3 Id take Fitz

and then with 4 Id take Calvin Johnson

and then with 5 Id take Drew Brees

and then with 6 Id take Jason Witten

and then with 7 Id take Adrian Peterson

......

:biglaugh:

Just having some fun with ya man.

I know you said this was on autodraft but I am very curious how Tim Hightower could go before Beanie Wells?? I guess ESPN has him pegged to fail before he even begins.

Either way, thats a nice team you got there IMO

He will be...

Um, no he won't. Ireland and Sparano have both said they've seen nothing to indicate that White is capable of playing receiver and that they aren't going to try. His reps will be at QB with an eye towards a competition for the starting job in 2010.

Oh, and his number is 6, so he can't be listed as a WR and NFL rules (IIRC) actually prohibit him from lining up as a receiver. More to the point, he must check in as an eligible receiver to do anything other than receive the snap or block, which ruins any surprise factor.

You can unbunch those panties DD. I was only joking around.

DD, you bring up a valid point, and I was actually thinking that same thing when that pick came around. I can only guess that most Fantasy providers will have White initially listed as a WR to give people flexibility since he's in a unique situation. On a fantasy roster he obviously brings more value at WR then QB. He'll be a popular late round target of mine in every draft I do this year, especially scoring systems such as Yahoo! that reward extra points for a player scoring in a way that isn't typical for their position. In White's case, being listed as a receiver and throwing a TD would get him extra points.

I did notice some wierd anomolies with ESPN's default rankings (Hightower over Wells, for one), so keep that in mind when you see some of the ADP's listed over the summer. MJD and S-Jax rated over Turner, and Brees in the first round are just a couple that caught my eye. Keep this in mind if you autodraft with any of these services.
Pre-ranking your choices is extremely important! Even if you are in a live draft, show up early and start lining your choices up in whatever space is provided. I've seen many a draft go bad due to an unexpected disconnect.

Thanks, kind sir.

Without overcomplicating things, my basic draft strategy is not really slaved into a certain pattern. (RB-RB-WR, etc.) I go tier-based with my early picks, and I want a top-tier player at QB, RB1, WR1, and TE before I start on anything else. Then it's basically best player available. This depends on how the particular draft unfolds, of course. In a league with a "flex" position, I almost always use my RB depth there, unless a juicy matchup dictates otherwise.
Cooley was spot on with looking at Calvin Johnson over Brady. I labored a bit over that one, but in my opinion Brady/Manning/Brees are the only 3 "top-tier" QB's and I wasn't getting Brady when my pick came around again. All things being equal, I think I'm better off with Brady-Colston than I would be with Calvin-Ryan, for example. I'm not as concerned as some about the injury, and everything is essentially the same as when he went out, except they added Joey Galloway (upgrade)
