Coming at you
Although most of us play in multiple leagues against each other, I still like to discuss player projections or just thoughts on the upcoming season. Will always give my honest opinions. Also appreciate input from all of you for my various leagues.

What are your thoughts on James Conner for 2025?

Going into his year 30 season and coming off a 1500 total yard, 55 catch season with 9 TDs. Pretty nice year, especially when you consider he missed the last two games of the season (only 4 carries in week 17) after he got dinged up. Not a lot of wear and tear on him either. Recently signed a two year extension. My only concern is how much Benson cuts into his workload this year. He only got 63 carries as a rookie, but looked pretty good, averaging over 4.5 a carry. Do the Cards give Benson a bigger workload in 2025 or do they roll with Conner as the alpha for another season? Kyler loves him some Conner, so that will play into it some. If his role stays the same, he will be a great value in redraft again.

Conner has toughness and leadership which has helped him stay relevant longer than the average back. Still productive at his age and coming off one of his best seasons with the most touches. How long does it last is the magic question. I would bet that he and Benson would have more of an even split of touches this year. Hard to say if Benson will be as productive, but it would be wise to keep Conner going longer in a shared role.

I wouldn't draft Conner in 2025 based on his 2024 numbers. Project at least a 25% drop off.

25 percent is huge and I only see that if he somehow falls off a cliff talent wise, which I don’t see happening. Bigger back who doesn’t rely on speed. Surprisingly he had several runs over 30 yards. I’m thinking more of a 10 percent drop since his workload is already fairly low.

We will see I guess. One to watch closely as far as training camp buzz.

283 touches in 2024 are the most he has ever had by a lot. He hasn't approached that number of touches since 2018. So the 25% factored in a regression to his mean + increased touches for Benson.

Some backs however are rare in how they remain productive in later years. The Frank Gore syndrome I guess you may call it. Him, Montgomery, Aaron jones, even king Henry. Very productive beyond 29 yrs old. Hard to predict when Father Time catches up.
