The Philadelphia Eagles have signed QB Kevin Kolb to a one-year contract extension, reports Adam Caplan, of Scout.com. The deal includes around $12.26 million in guaranteed money.

Nice Move, throwing some money at the promotion to #1 status.

This is solid. They lock the Qb up for next year. Allows them to read this year how he is progressing. Nice!

As the two of you pointed out not only did it lock Kolb in for awhile it also keeps it hungry for a long term deal. I also like it from the constructing a positive ego base for the new starter. It's one thing to become heir apparent with McNabbs departure, that is obvious. But nothing helps convince you that you are indeed the man in Philly like some extra jingle in the pockets. You can get some sightly better digs, maybe closer to work, cop yourself a new ride for the shorter commute. Nothing massages an ego more positively than a lifestyle upgrade.

As I stated in an earlier thread, the draft stock of Houston's Case Keenum hinges greatly on how well Kolb performs this year. Keenum stepped into Kolb's shoes when he left, and Kolb's success will quell any concerns over the "system QB" stigma that contributes to Keenum's video-game'esque stats.
