Tonight we finish off the draft for my 12 Team, IDP, $$, local Keeper League. Final 10 rounds. Last week (Thurs) we had the Protected Rookie Draft, Keeper Declaration (starting lineup + 1 flex), and 2 round supplimental draft. These 2 rounds allow you to drop a keeper and pick up someone that another team has released. This helps some of the hard luck teams out.
History
I have been in this league for about 12 years, and it was going for about 6 or 7 years before I got in. It went from redraft to keeper in '99 with 2 or 3 keepers and kept adding keepers for about 5 years until we reached the present format. The IDPs were added about 6/7 years ago.
The way I have been playing this league is that every trade I make I either move up in the Rookie Draft, or regular Draft. This year because McCoy was a protected Rookie (a rookie can be kept here for 2 years and does not count against your roster, but you lose your Rookie pick if you protect him for the following year)
This year I am going into the final 10 rounds of our draft with the following picks. Keep in mind that I can trade back on some of these to move up a bit next year. A lot of the guys don't put a lot of value on them because they are all backups as we keep a full load of starters

Everyone goes into their drafts with a plan. The winners will also have a plan B, C, and D

- QB - (Rodgers (wk 10) - GBP) Palmer, Farve, McNabb, A.Smith are all avaiable. But look, Roethlisberger is there way down the list. If I am gonna need to start someone other than Rodgers I want max pts/gm. I can wait a few rounds on getting a backup QB
- RB - (Da Willy (wk 6) Car, Caddy (wk 4) TB, (LeSean McCoy (wk 8) is a protected Rookie) Bradshaw, Reggie, Forsett, Portis, McFadden are the top names available. I need 2 RBs or just take 1 and activate McCoy with/for my last pick. Again, If I am going to draft them I want to be able to start them. So if I can get Portis and Johnson I will use an early pick on Portis (1:08/1:11). If Portis goes early on me I will go Huggins and Johnson in later rounds. I feel safe with this because of McCoy in my back pocket that I can activate at any time
- WR - (Jennings (wk 10) GBP, DeSean (wk 8) Phi, Boldin (wk 8) Bal) I have a bit of a week 8 issue here in a league where I have to start 2/3 WRs and can only have 4 on my roster. S.Moss, Evans, Smith (NYG), Gaffney, Knox are available. Wait a sec, Santonio Holmes and BMW are way down the list here. I can wait several rounds and live with 10 pts/gm from my 4th WR. BMW may go a little early as Seattle is the local team
- TE - (Celek (wk 8) Phi) Winslow, Miller, Olsen, Fasano, Shokey, Keller are available. I am better off going a bit early here
- PK - (Rackers (wk 7) Hou) Crosby, Folk, Tynes, Beuhler Backup Kickers go later in this league. I will probably be the 1st to take 1
- Def - (GB Packers (wk 10)) Giants, Pats, Saints, Titans Again, These guys go late
- DL - (Long (wk 9) STL) Will Smith, Kampman, Vanden-Bosch, Justin Smith, Harvey Lots of good depth here. 5th or 6th round
- LB - (DM Ryans (wk 7) Hou) DJ Williams, Tulloch, Lewis, Dasnby, Lofton, Poz I don't like to wait too long at LB. 2nd to 4th round
- DB - (Wilson (wk 6) Ari) Usually I will wait here but Chung, Harper, Delmas, Mikell are all available. 2nd to 4th round
