Donnie Avery - Thoughts?

So what does everyone think of Avery? He showed flashes last year and now with Holt out of St.L he looks to be their top WR. Is this is a nice sleeper or someone we should forget about on draft day?

Donnie Avery only put up 2 games last year with double digit fantasy points.

Not sure where all this hype has comes from.

Torry as the #1 there had 3 double digit games last year.

There just isn't enough action to the WRs to make Avery work.

Don't know how much hype there is....this is a guy who has been very quite this offseason.

The air show is long gone in SL but Avery is a nice player to pick up depending on how far he drops.

600+ yards as a rookie is a promising start and there is no reason to think that he came into the league and immediately topped. Remember Holt wasn't exactly the player defenses had to fear any more. He should continue to develop nicely if there is a viable threat lined up alongside him.

If Burton, Foster or Robinson step up and establish themselves as the #2 Avery could turn into a nice draft diamond.

Might be an endgame type guy for me on draft day, depending on how I did for WR depth.
The 2008 Raiders WR corps just called and said this is a sad group. The only receiving threat on the team lines up behind Bulger. The talent is there but they're all young and unproven.
I'll wait until Avery shows me consistent production before his status changes on my board.

I guess I would have to ask where he is on your board.

All 2nd year WRs are unproven but he finished the season with a pretty consistent 3 game stretch. If the hope is to be ahead of the curve I could see someone legitimately pegging him as a valid option for a WR #3 on a fantasy team - depending on how the draft leading up to that selection went as you mentioned.

Endgame = Last 2 rounds. That's where he is on my board.

Unless I whiff badly on some of my WR bench picks up to that point. Not that I think he's worthless, but he's the type of guy that will probably be on and off a few rosters over the course of the year unless he completely blows up.
