  • The Wisconsin State Journal reports Green Bay Packers WR Donald Driver was absent from practice because he wants the team to sweeten his contract. Driver, 34, has two years remaining on his contract, which calls for a $3.9 million base salary this season and a $4 million base salary in 2010. This is the fourth straight year that Driver has approached the team about reworking his deal, the team source said.

With Jones healthy and Jordy in his second year, it might be time to accept the 4 mil and shutup! :)

I just don't think Driver can push this very much. Jones did a fine job as a rookie until injured. If healthy, he can offer as much at this point in their respective careers. I want Driver on board, and he would be my preference, but he might have to settle.

Do you think this is the year Jones becomes relevant? I could definitely see Nelson moving in front of Jones and become an effective 3rd option
I agree with you Cooley...I think Jordy Nelson takes over..not Jones.:koolaid:

I agree with Phicinfan. tough to go wrong with that strategy.

Driver isn't done yet.

Anyone who thinks the Packers can just fill the Driver void needs to share their stash with me.

And Jennings will suffer awfully.

Driver wasn't absent due to him wanting a sweetened contract. He was absent b/c he was working out in Houston - the Packers already knew this. Driver may have complained about his pay or someting...who doesn't?

Beat Writer Greg Bedard had this to say: Driver's agent isn't in "contract talks" with the Packers. Driver is talking. Doesn't mean Packers are listening. They aren't.

That's the truth.

Short of Wes Welker to me Donald Driver is one of the best possession receivers in the game. That being said, no need to negotiate another contract.
