The Miami Dolphins showed interest in Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick and Washington QB Jake Locker, both considered mobile quarterbacks, and reportedly have shown a lot of interest in Auburn QB Cam Newton, reports Ben Volin, of the Palm Beach Post.

Just interesting.... :D

So far what Ive read has Newton going to the Vikings at 12 overall. I think Miami would need to move into the top 10

That's the thing, Cam's stock seems to be rising and the Dolphins may need to move up in the draft if they are really interested. NFL.coms Pat Kirwin suggests that even the Bengals might be interested in Cam.

Not sure there is any way Cam makes it to 12. 10 to Washington seems like his floor IMO. Cincinnati at 4 might be his ceiling. Arizona, SF, & Ten all possibles in between. I think we see Newton as the "buzz" player of this draft. Right now I see #4 at his ceiling, but we have seen hpye machines go crazy before and with Carolina and Buffalo in the top 3, you could start to see rumors that way if he continues to impress prior to the draft.

It's hard to tell what the Dolphins might do. They are a pretty good team across the board but with the Pats and Jets in the same division they need to get a lot better in order to crack the top of their division. Getting a Cam Newton and devoting an entire offense to his unique talents may be the best play. If they were in another division they might be able to go with a just get generally better mode but in the AFC East that will get you hanging in third place for the next few years.

I gotta agree here. I think the first Qb off the board will be Gabbert from Missouri. So if Carolina, Buffalo or Denver take a Qb, which I don't think any of them do, then earliest Cam can go is #4 to cincy. I see Def for the first three picks, probably two d-line men and one Lb. Then Cincy is the wild card. They could go Wr, Qb or DE depending on who went in the top three.

I would argue that for Miami to be solid in AFC East, they need a horse Rb to depend on. Brown isn't it. My gut feeling is Ricky is gone after he shot his mouth off. Most mocks have them getting Ingram, and I think thats a better fit. They need to focus on run game, and O-line, to control the clock. Henne isn't awful, but if he has to carry the team they are doomed. They could then swing around and maybe target a Qb later, or for for one of the big FAs.
