Detroit Lions Blackout

Watching Sportcenter I just realize or forgot Today's Lions game was a blackout. What a shame now that the Lions finally win a game The city and the State couldn't even watch it. I know the Lions are a pretty bad team but Michigan has been one of the hardest hit states when it comes to the economy and its a shame the NFL just could lift blackouts this year for everyone. People are not working and don't have the money and for Lions fan who are some of the most loyal and :homer: fans its a shame I really feel bad for them.

I agree with this. We are all struggling and a little help from a game we pay for would be nice.

that does suck.....I gotta give those fans that still show up in Detroit a hell of a lot of credit. i was happy for that franchise today.

Too bad a lot of other very loyal fans had to listen instead of watch....

I was just glad to hear that no one attempted to burn the city down in their misplaced joy.

Only if the Lions ever won the Super Bowl then the city would burn down much like how i think Chicago would burn down if the Cubs ever won the World Series.

If the Saints ever win the super bowl Katrina might seem like a winter day's rain compared to the excitement that would follow. On the other hand I'd like to think we'd have better sense than to destroy that so recently rebuilt.

I'm no Lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. (believe me if I didn't throw it in somebody would have said it)

Back to the subject. I am a bit surprised that City, County and State officials have not done anything about this. You could easily pass a law stating No NFL Blackouts for a year. You would lose in the long run but in the meantime a Judge could drop an injunction against the balckout. Like with the Vikings Williams and Williams suspension, tie it up for quite awhile. The local politicos and judges could be heroes. If you make it for Just a year it makes it hard for the NFL to argue longterm damage. It will never happen, probably, but it is the very reason why I should be running things.

Then the same law would be passed in countless other underpreforming NFL cities. I hate it for the fans but the rules are the same for everyone.

I think Seattle outlawed blackouts

Something about if you want taxpayers to build a stadium, you will televise the games

Im saying it should be for everyone. San Diego had a hard time selling out and so has Arizona other cities have too just can't think of them. I just bring this up because of what happened and becasue I go to Michigan often and know how much they love their Lions.
