Denver Broncos Suspend Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall has been suspended by the Denver Broncos for "conduct detrimental to the team". Not saying what the actual conduct is, but we all know that problems have been going on in regards to Marshall wanting out of town.

Some of his recent actions:
During Wednesday's warmups, Marshall walked while the rest of the team was running, punted a ball away instead of handing it to a ball boy and swatted away a pass thrown to him. The incidents were caught on video and aired by KMGH-TV.

Adam Schefter says that the suspension is for the rest of the preseason. If he behaves, the team will bring him back for the season opener.

:shake: I don't think so. From what I have heard on ESPN radio and other places, this all started the day he and McDaniels met and the basically told him he was going nowhere. He wants out and badly. Not sure he would be willing to be suspended all year or some such...but I don't think he goes quietly into the night either.

It will be interesting to follow, that is for sure.

Can't remember the last time I sit back and watched a team implode this badly, this quickly.

Oh wait, now I remember. It was when Tom Hicks slashed the Texas Rangers payroll and ran off Doug melvin. :)

Think so?

I'm on the fence about it. He will now draw the opposition's best cornerback and teams will focus on him.

At least with Marshall in the line-up, he was able to roam around freely...
I agree, I think Royal will still do decent without Marshall just based on the amount of looks he will get. But I don't know if he explodes without him.

As far as Marshall goes.....&(^&*(%&^(%&%*(&^&*( Damn idiot, get your shit together and produce on the field......

Not only the best corner, but also double coverage. Denver can still get the ball to him, but at 5'10", it is going to be very difficult to find him in the endzone with increased coverage.

Denver needs Brandon Marshall on the field. Problem is, Marshall doesn't want to be on the field in Denver, and I honestly can't blame him given the way this team has been screwed up this year.

Bad news for Eddie Royal. Good news for Knowshon Moreno.

We all know what Kyle Orton does with the ball when he can't find an open WR...

:headscratch: You mean Buckhalter right? Knowshon is on the shelf right now.

I would add that this makes me even higher on Scheffler at Te now.

It's mostly Brandon Marshall's fault that the team is being screwed up. The Cutler trade was (in my opinion) a good move for the Broncos and they loaded up on draft picks to rebuild the team. They added guys like Knowshon Moreno and Brian Dawkins to name a few.

It's not like this team is being mishandled in any egregious way. Everyone acts like Kyle Orton ran over their dog - the guy was putting up great numbers at times last season on a team far less talented than this. I think he at least deserves a fair shot and he's not getting that right now from his best WR. Marshall needs to get his butt on the field and contribute. Maybe if he did the team would be in a much better place right now.

FOOTBALL!

And the Broncos traded away their 2010 first round pick to Seattle for a 2009 2nd round pick. Perfect time for the Broncos to implode!

I feel it is better news for Scheffler, who is big enough to find and hit, and he won't be drawing the best corner, who will stay on the smallish Royal. I also feel this bodes well for the best back on the team. HILLIS! He should get more passes thrown his way, and might even still end up as the starting tailback.

First and foremost, you don't go behind a franchise quarterbacks back and try to trade them. These players are few and far between. So, the trade was in no way "good".

Dawkins is a good player, but in no way part of any rebuilding program. Guy is at the very end of his career, and won't be playing by the time Denver is a contender. So he is irrelevant to this.

Moreno had nothing to do with the trade. This was the Broncos pick regardless.

What they did do was add to their defense via Robert Ayers. Time will tell how he transitions into the NFL, but I doubt it is anywhere near what they lost at quarterback.

Broncos timeline:

Fired a very good head coach (who they still have to pay). In exchange, they hire another coach on the cheap, who immediately craps all over the teams future. Head coach runs off quarterback because he is obsessed with bringing in "his guy". Plan fails, they end up with Kyle Orton. Leagues top receiver is clearly not happy about losing the guy who gets him the ball, and wants to leave.

As for Orton's numbers, not sure what to say to that other than people tend to put way too much stock in numbers. Stats are what kept David Carr under center in Houston for so long. Not saying Orton is a bad player by any means, but he is nowhere near the caliber of Cutler, and you simply don't piss away a top flight franchise quarterback like this team did.

While you can all argue about what has happened to the team, i have to look at this from another point. This suspension has the impact of a fluffy slap. Marshall has just been given the pre-season off. There is no financial penalty as players don't get paychecks during camp and pre-season. Marshall had to show up because if he didn't he could be fined, a financial setback. Now, he doesn't even have to show up at all, that will teach him. :)

yeah, that was the first thing I thought about when I read it. It's not like he wants to be out there anyway.
