DeAngelo Williams - Thoughts for 2009

So what does everyone think about Dwill next year. One of the surprise standouts of 2008....but can he repeat it? He finally stepped up to his potential last year, but they also have a very talented back in Stewart who will be looking to make a bigger name for himself this season.

So in DWill, do we have a top 5 back again, or does he come back to earth this year? Worth the first round pick?

As almost no one is a 3 down back anymore, Id say yes, pick him up with the 7-12 pick of the 1st

Why?

He showed a great combination of power and breakaway speed in 08. He plays for a run first team with an excellent O-line and enough weapons in the passing game to keep the defense honest.

The only valid argument against him having another excellent season is if Stewart gets a larger role in 09. While Stewart is good, I don't think he is as good as Williams showed last year, so why would you decrease Williams role? I don't think he repeats 08, but as the previous poster stated, will be worth a mid to late 1st round pick at the worst. Myself, I would take him in the top 6...........

At this point in the year I'm going off of my gut more so than anything else and my gut tells me that the guys in my local $$$ league will be too high on Williams. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone take him in the top 3. But its early and my opinion could change as my focus on FF intensifies throughout the summer.

That would have to qualify as more than "solid". 1600 and 16 equals top 3...........

That said. I think you are correct in your estimations. I was very impressed by Williams last year. Huge season in his first real opportunity to be a first option..............

Which side you want Miller? Pro DeAngelo or Con DeAngelo?

I still see him as a top 10 back...but will come down to earth some since I think Stewart will help more this year.

I will say this though....if Delhomme or S.Smith get hurt...they will drop like a rock.

Thats pretty much my feelings on him. Stewart is too good and makes too much money to not be in there at least 40% of the time. And God help them if either Smith or Delhomme go down!
